I do hope she is renting. What a staggeringly awful hire by Kent, bringing the stench of Lyke here. The fact that she is/was in contention for AD is an embarrassment at the highest level. Show her the door on Kent’s way out
I am not implying it. I'm stating it.You're implying syracuse.com has journalistic standards.
There are plenty of negatives about her suitability for the role but this type of comment (along with the other misogynist stuff that has been popping up here about BH's partner) is really unnecessary. There are women on these boards. Her face is “intimidating” enough
Brother I meant she looks like she has “ resting B face” but you can’t type that out here hence the quotations. I would’ve said the same thing if I saw my moms, Rihanna, Anna Kendrick, Ben Afflecks Jeremy Renner, Jason Batemans face. There are plenty of negatives about her suitability for the role but this type of comment (along with the other misogynist stuff that has been popping up here about BH's partner) is really unnecessary. My first secondhand experience with this wasn't even salary. Probably 20 years ago at another small local private school, two SVPs (one of whom was a local business person who had been downsized from their previous exec position and benefited from the buddy hire) ran up a $600 bar tab at a local restaurant. And because they were talking about work, they routed it through expenses. At the time, I was working as a consultant (unrelated to the school) and had to pay the taxes on my hotel stays when I traveled because they were greater than the allowed GSA per diem and alcohol wasn't even allowed to be expensed. It cost me money to travel. Definitely different rules for different people.I have seen firsthand how colleges and universities crying poverty can always open up the checkbook for an administrator (always someone's buddy) even if they have to create a brand new position and "role" to accommodate them. Lyke appears to be an "excellent" example.
They should have done it the old fashioned way like Southern Miss and Brett Favre and steal it from welfare.$200,000,000+ investment by Pitt for non-revenue sports like wrestling and volleyball. That’s insane
They didn't see anything; she has a highly-placed friend in the SU admin and that's all it takes. What the actual heck did anyone at SU see in her to think she's worth listening to? Just a failure.
Pitt - the Rutgers of the ACC.![]()
J. Byron Fleck: Pitt must stop using students, taxpayers as piggy bank for athletics
For years, the University of Pittsburgh has quietly shifted a staggering financial burden onto the backs of its students, their families and Pennsylvania taxpayers. Now, thanks to Pitt’s filings with the commonwealth, the truth is finally undeniable: Pitt has been using tuition, mandatory...triblive.com
Not good at all.
Inflated salaries being inflated budgets, which means inflated power within an organizationA friend of mine was in an admin position at one of the schools at SU and was privy to some salaries. It was eye opening at how cavalier some people were with money for their staff, quite a few "do little, paid a lot" jobs.
That’s probably partially my fault. I’m sorry.I’m afraid Syracuse Law is now ranked similar to Akron Law. What a disgrace
Publicly, it’s in-PC to be against herFrom the new Syracuse.com article "Right Person at the Right Time: What they're saying about New Chancellor Mike Haynie"
U.S. Rep. John Mannion:
“I think he has a wealth of knowledge and he’s an ethical person who really wants what’s best for SU,” Mannion said. “He’s the right person at the right time.”
So how could he possibly want her to be the A.D.?
Not that it needs to be said anymore but this situation is so pathetic. They didn't see anything; she has a highly-placed friend in the SU admin and that's all it takes.
Closer to the former, than the latter.Like keep an eye as a spy (ala Heather) or just a nice gig with minimal responsibilities because he owed him a favor?
I honestly have no idea. By “his” I didn’t mean to imply Kent’s, if that’s how you took it.Wouldn't that "top dog" be Candace Campbell Jackson?
ExactlyWondering if it's just bad wording here, and the his he is referring to is the friend. So keep an eye on the top dog in whatever department his friend was hired into.
Candace Campbell Jackson. Girl bosses lookin out for the sisterhood, failures overlooked. They didn't see anything; she has a highly-placed friend in the SU admin and that's all it takes.
would struggle to think any of them could be worse than lyke, unless its Ian McCaw or the Umass GuySo if 4 interviews were Monday. I would imagine that they are moving forward the final two by tomorrow unless one was head and shoulders above the others. Final two final interviews with Haynie Thursday/ Friday? A decision by Monday? Just spitballing based on insiders saying we should know by Monday.
Have our insiders heard anything about the other two candidates or without names how they compare to the known ones?
gotchaI honestly have no idea. By “his” I didn’t mean to imply Kent’s, if that’s how you took it.
Based on her background, I would think she paid twice as much and negotiated an eight-year, unbreakable lease.I do hope she is renting.
No.If it's Carparelli, do we become an Under Armour program?
