Agree. I can't see how this happens now. She's 55 - if she can't take an early retirement, I'd just go to Michigan with Kent or whoever will still hire her for any position. Her dream big school AD career isn't happening at this point.

"HR ruled these allegations did not violate university policy, according to the documents, but acknowledged the merit of the complainant’s concerns. ...Lyke received “feedback about her approach”... HR also found there was “no basis to conclude that a personal relationship might impede the fair and objective handling of any complaints,” according to the documents.

“Syracuse University takes all workplace concerns seriously and, following a thorough review that included interviews with multiple individuals, found no evidence of a policy violation or interference in the process”

This is the politics and power play on the Hill. Fingers crossed that the negative PR from the filing itself - and not the ruling of no violations of university policy were found - are enough to torpedo her candidacy

It certainly seems that she might be a good friend and a terrible boss from hell. That’s a helluva trail she’s leaving.
 
I have no inside information on the AD search or coaching hire, so this is purely speculation — and I could be completely wrong.

That said, based on Lyke’s performance at Pitt and the generally negative perception around her tenure, I wasn’t surprised to see this article. As Jeff Goodman noted, it’s hard to see how this helps her candidacy. In my opinion, it could even take her out of the conversation.

If she was close to being hired and this causes the Board to pivot, we may not see a hire before the start of the ACC tournament, which wouldn’t be ideal.

Again, this is just my read from the outside, but the timing of JW’s “retirement” — which I don’t believe was entirely his decision — combined with a budget-conscious university creating a new role for her, made it seem like there may have been a succession plan in place.

If that were driven by the Chancellor, that would raise questions for me, especially given his pending departure and the other major issues currently on his plate.

I could be 100% off — just sharing how it looks from the outside.

She's kryptonite. The Unviersity can't touch her now, in light of the circumstances, with the other issues / red flags hanging over her head from before she was tossed a lifeline by SU. It was misguided bringing her in, in the first place. She will NEVER be the Athletic Director here now.

I REALLY hope you’re right, but I’m worried because I heard otherwise by two close sources just an hour ago.
