SU Athletic Director Candidates

Carparelli / Russ Brandon. Lyke and a fourth candidate were also interviewed.

Theodorakis I gather didn’t want to leave army yet. He’s early into the role and wants more time there.
Thanks. Wow, is Russ Brandon a legit candidiate? How do people feel about him? He’s running an entire pro league right now and was in the Bills front office.

Carparelli feels like a home run. Really well connected. He helped run the Big East in the football years, worked for the Patriots and later Under Armour. SU connections. It seems that sponsorships and corporate deals are his specialty, and we desperately need more of that. If they could get him, we’d be cooking.

I would assume Andrew Goodrich is the other candidate. He was a Wildhack protege before leaving for the AD position at Akron.

Someone also mentioned John Cunningham at Cincy as a possibility.

You get 2 for 1 here. This is the move and the only move that should be made

In an intereview with student journalists at Newhouse, Mike Haynie said this about the A.D. job opening and other openings in the Athletic Dept.:

"When asked about the naming of a new athletic director and potentially a new men’s basketball coach, Haynie said that he will “engage and be part of these processes.”"

"“This is an attractive set of jobs that we’re talking about, whether it’s the athletic director opening or potential other opportunities within our athletics program,” Haynie said.""

I had a co-worker tell me he made inappropriate pass towards her at a different schools alumni event

He was fired because he had relations with a co worker when he was a member of the Bills front office that's why he was fired or at least part of it that was public.

2 consenting adults, but not a good look when you are head honcho, obviously. Hopefully lesson learned ...and we all make mistakes.

That said, he has a very solid track record as a sports executive and with venture capital experience... which is a lot more than can be said for Lyke and her dumpster fire tenure at Pitt.

Bewteen him and Carapelli, I like that we're talking to tenured PRO sports execs tho... Indicative of the new NIL and funding environment that we're now evolving in in D1 college sports.
