SU Athletic Director Candidates

Carparelli just makes so much sense. He has tons of experience in strategic brand partnerships and corporate sponsorships, an area where SU is sorely lacking. He will be a huge asset. Plus he understands things from the conference perspective as a former associate commissioner of Big East football. He’s just worked with so many different organizations and spaces in the athletics world, including for Under Armour and the Patriots.

The rumor mill is gaining momentum for Carparelli. I’m pretty confident he’s the choice.

I DO NOT LIKE THE SOUND OF THIS. Has this been reported on here? I haven't seen it. "Could" be a BAD sign. On the other hand, she may have written it and forced them to issue it. Or something worse.

University Leadership Response to a March 2, 2026, Article Published in The Daily Orange Regarding Heather Lyke

March 3, 2026

“The characterizations in The Daily Orange article do not reflect the environment we have built in Syracuse Athletics. Heather Lyke has been a valued partner in our Athletics Department, and any suggestion that her presence has created confusion or dysfunction is simply not accurate. The University’s own Human Resources review found no policy violation, and that conclusion is consistent with my own experience working alongside her. I am proud of the work our staff does every day and remain focused on the continued success of our student-athletes and department.”

-Director of Athletics John Wildhack

“Heather Lyke was brought to Syracuse University to drive meaningful transformation in our Athletics Department. That kind of work is difficult and is not always welcomed by everyone. Growth and change can be uncomfortable, but that is very different from a policy violation, and it should not be confused with misconduct. Publishing anonymous and unsubstantiated allegations does a disservice to the dedicated professionals in our Athletics Department and to the integrity of the Human Resources process itself. Every workplace concern brought to the University’s attention is taken seriously. The University’s review found no misconduct and no interference by anyone. I am confident not only in how this matter was handled, but also in Heather Lyke.”

-Chancellor Kent Syverud

Oh Kent seems so much more pissed than JW on this……the fact that either Kent or Heather herself likely forced the university to issue a statement and had to include John is really fitting for the kind of behavior that turns us off from people like Kent and Heather. More concerned with protecting their image than serving and producing successful outcomes for Syracuse University. That what this reeks of.

Granted this is old, Nick better have an updated perspective on realignment for Syracuse because its coming again around.~2028.
Agreed, like the answer can’t be the second he begins office that he is trying to get us out of the ACC without a real plan of how to replace the missed tv revenue. If anything, I hope he isn’t silenced on areas where Syracuse is being blatantly treated differently than the old guard Carolina schools. As well as endorsing and advocate for changes to the conference that will benefit Syracuse and provide a more “home” feeling for Syracuse. Even though you can technically say adding UConn would create more competition in football recruiting against another P4 in the northeast. I think our schools being able to market the rivalry as conference foes adds juice and opportunity for both schools to generate more revenue generation opportunities.

Correct. They just wanted something to show they defended her to industry folks. All about image.

Tom Theodorakis was named the 31st Director of Athletics of Army West Point Athletics in February 2025.

Theodorakis’ first spring as Director of Athletics was marked by two department-wide achievements. On April 12 2025, Army West Point clinched the overall Star Series Presented by USAA, besting rival Navy for the first time in the all-sport competition for the first time since 2013-14.

In May 2025, the Black Knights were named Patriot League Presidents’ Cup winners, finishing the 2024-25 academic year as the best overall Patriot League institution athletically, based on points awarded across a combination of an institution's regular-season and tournament finishes in each sport.
So he gets credit for events/achievements which happen 2-3 months after being hired.
This is the biggest bunch of nonsense I've ever seen.

You can tell it’s old because he said something nice about Rutgers Basketball

When you have the right friends, you can fail upwards.

I cannot stand people like this. Career opportunist do not last long in my firm.

Hodgson follows Carp on X

View attachment 260740
Could be an old follower and have nothing to do with back channel convos that could already be underway. I checked for myself this morning and he doesn’t follow Nick anymore as of this morning on Twitter likely after that being pointed out by a lovely burner everyone knows on twitter. The Syracuse burners produce funny stuff, but can be creepy at times, just a fact. Let’s hope it’s not Nick and Hodgson team having already talked and determined it’s not a fit (because that doesn’t make sense to me that it wouldn’t be a fit lol) especially if Nick is the next AD waiting to be announced. Or the more happy and my preferred outcome is Hodgson unfollows him after it being pointed out and they are just trying to cover up the smoke all together, so Hodgson can keep his South Florida team and fans staying engaged and focused on getting the job done this March until they can officially announce him as next head coach when the USF season ends.
