you mean we may have wasted weeks and 1,000's of posts here stressing and making threats for nothing?

Wait, you mean to tell me the basketballs season is still going on?

I kid, but nothing else worth talking about except our future.

Yes, these were posts in the past. I was poking around to see what public opinion was of her in the past.
3 years ago:
"Pitt needs to do everything in their power to keep her"
"Heather Lyke was the university’s best athletic hire in half a century. No one has had the impact she has. We should be lucky to have it."
"Louis Riddick said something at the Kickoff Luncheon about some good news in the future (paraphrasing) for the team. I hope it’s a contract extension for Heather Lyke."
This was after she was fired
"What a mistake to let her go. I don’t know her but from the outside looking it she seemed to have done a great job with Pitt Athletics"
After her contract extension in 2016:
"It says a lot about her that most fans are really happy with this news. She's done really well."
"Pitt fans how do you feel about this?"
"Stoked. She's killed it, especially the last few months."
"I'm ecstatic. ... Combined with all these moves she's made in only 13 months and rumors that Michigan State wanted to poach her, I think this was really prudent move by our administration."
"Very happy. She has a great attitude and a lot of ambition."
"This is great. Since she arrived, the football program has finally been willing to pay for good assistants, and the basketball program did a 180 in it's coaching situation. Firing our women's basketball coach, who was pretty popular locally, showed that reputation alone isn't an excuse for failure, and that all of our teams are expected to win. I love everything she has done so far."
People on here gassed up the Autry hire too 😂

Yeah that’s why I was saying last week or so everyone was getting bent out of shape for nothing
Well, to be fair, some insiders were breaking down the behind the scenes battles/dysfunction and saying that Hop is making a serious play backed by astronomical Melo and friends NIL money and he could have a legit shot to get the job (maybe he still does). So we had reasons to be nervous. And that’s not even saying anything about Lyke, who apparently our biggest athletics donors are/were firmly supporting, despite her documented red flags. I hope we’re out of the woods, but until Carparelli and Hodgson (or Schertz or Calhoun) are hired for these positions, I’m going to remain guarded but cautiously optimistic.

Exactly... Not out of the woods until we're actually out of the woods (and have decent hires.)

Also, not for nothing, but that joint statement from Kent and JW might not just be a PR "kumbaya statement - no dysfunction, nothing to see here"... but an actual pretext for hiring Lyke as AD.

I mean, is it really out of bounds to think they might do something the majority of fans will hate??

I do think between social media, forums like this, the DO article and what I’m sure was feedback from within the athletic department. We all kinda crowd sourced the admin away from Lyke.
I know there was a big push by folks behind the scenes against her to committee members and others. I suspect that mostly killed her candidacy but she still got an interview on Monday, even if it was a courtesy / for improving her image. In hindsight it would have been better for her image had they not let her interview.

I don't think that article comes out if she didn't interview

Agree 100%. I don’t have any sources any more.

I agree 100%. I don’t any sources anymore unfortunately I’ve out lived them, but until the ink is dry, I’m still nervous.

Yep. There were people making a case internally which certainly was the greatest impact.

It really has added a whole lot of stink on Syverud’s legacy.

It’s been that way forever. It’s actually part of their job. Sue Edison put a bounty on Bees after “Spotwood-gate” nearly 30 years ago.
A bounty on Kim Jong Bees? Did she even realize she didn't have the jurisdiction?
