SU bowl projections

if we only lose 1 or 2 games its likely the orange bowl will be in play for us assuming clemson is in top 4 as its not a playoff host this year so #2 acc team would slot there
Agree. If you assume that Clemson goes undefeated and makes the playoff, the 2nd best team in the ACC will almost surely go to the Orange Bowl.

I would say with Leary out for the season and NC State’s offensive woes, they are now out of consideration.

So is everyone else but UNC, Wake Forest and Syracuse.

If it came down to Wake and Syracuse for the spot and the teams were relatively even, I think we would probably get the nod. Wake is so small and does not travel well.

It is a shame the refs boned Duke Saturday and gave UNC a victory. If it is close between them and us, I fear the Tar Heels would get the spot. I am rooting for the Tar Heels to lose a couple of times before the season is out.

While I have no idea how our season will end, I have a hunch UNC is going to have some games where they fall apart.

Oooo. Just checked. I have good flight options from Phoenix to Miami. It is doable. Even better and cheaper options into Ft. Lauderdale, but then have to get to Miami.

How is Clemson going to be undefeated after we beat them next week? Must be a misprint.

Wildhack can show the Orange can travel to Florida (Camping World Bowl). We might get the nod over UNC with similar records.

Ha Ha...basically I helped my wife deep clean the house before they arrived and I was her on call Uber driver to make three trips to the airport, dish washer, step and fetch, etc...

Basically earning free Orange Coins for future use.

I hope so. I don't think it is a given though.

Another predator that I did not discuss is ND. We will be contending for bowl spots with the Irish. The good news is with ND, as with Wake, we have a chance to play them head to head and if we win, it makes it difficult to pick the other team.

Especially if they have a couple more losses. ;)

Actually FLL is a very viable option. THE Orange Bowl (Hard Rock Stadium) is only 20 mins from Ft Lauderdale's airport.
Thats if your smart enough to take the FL Turnpike and avoid a flaming wreck on I-95.

I believe the selection for second best team in the ACC is through the CFP Rankings so we would just have to be ranked higher than UNC and Wake at the end of the season. If I remember right in 2018 if the Orange bowl would not have been a semi final game we would have been sent there with Clemson in the playoff.

Also completely forgot Pitt was the coastal rep that year with a 7-5 record.

Yup it’s the next highest rated team IF an ACC team goes to the CFP

Orange Bowl is played between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, so either way you will probably want a car. It's about 20 miles away from both. My experience is that FLL is easier to get in and out of, especially if you have TSA PreCheck.

I was at the UNC-Miami game a couple of weeks ago and I only saw a few UNC fans and not much blue in the stands. I was surprised.

ND is 3 and 3 with road games at SU, Clemson and Southern Cal. They should beat BC, Navy and UNLV. But they should have beaten Marshall and Stanford. It is not out of the question that ND does not qualify for a bowl this year.

CBS projected that we will finished 8-4 (win over Notre Dame but lose 4 ACC games) and get the fifth best bowl. They projected Pitt will be ahead of us.

We could be 13-0 and Jerry Palm from CBS would still have us in the Fenway Bowl against some outlier from the AAC even though by rule we have to be in at least the Orange Bowl by virtue of winning the ACC Championship.

Years ago, it was already announced that we were in the Texas Bowl and he still projected us out of a bowl in his final projection.

Pay no attention to Jerry Palm.

CBS hates us because ACC is pure ABC property.
