SU Looking To Hire A Brand Person

Oh boy, the uniform crazy’s one shining moment.
I can see it now... the branding consultant determines that the most important effect on brand net worth is attracting the best players, and today’s kids like the gray uniforms. The new standard!

Fine, the pick the grey uniforms. Just stick with something.

Talk about a job with your name on it!

I guess that rules guys with a Master's out. They want someone with a PhD in quantum physics or theoretical math, previous experience at NASA or CERN, and a minimum IQ of 185...Sheesh! When did branding get so complicated?

They left out the word “genetic”. They want people to actually bleed orange. I told everyone they are looking to increase STEM research! Genetic Branding!

Is superb spelling part of the minimum requirements for ideal candidates?

If not, I hope the final round is decided by a spelling bee.

CRISPR. We may all live to actually bleed Orange.

I do hope this brings about a Uni change. Too many people don't like them, and some even refer to them as clown suits. Bad marketing.

A return to "class" and "tradition" would go a long way. Any change would present marketing opportunities. A return to greatness/tradition campaign would get many excited - on look, alone. Add in success on the field, and we get to wash off the "not so great" years.

It's not SUAD that is hiring. It's Auxiliary Services with a dotted line to SUAD. Part of the job is to combat knockoff gear, such as the Saltine Warrior baseball hats that both UEO and I have been approached as to where we got them.

I believe a cat named Marc Donnabella had the gig. A quick directory search finds that he has left the building.

Who's in charge of the "look" on the field?
There is an appetite for change, here, that many believe directly affects the brand. Sincerely hope they address it.

Yeah, this isn't uni stuff. It's the stuff we buy (hats, shirts, etc).

Bummer. Any new look on the field presents an opportunity for a whole new line of accessories. I don't think the current look helps maximize revenue. Quite the opposite. Very tied in, for me.

A return to class, and tradition, and I think they increase revenue. I'd be happy to buy that look. I'll just have to cross my fingers, that part of the job is negotiating new deals for a return to that tradition...;-)

That’s the calculation and job. Smart marketing and branding can do both: tradition and new swag.

One thing I would like the brand person to work on is better displaying the football/basketball team's accomplishments via banners. I feel like our banner system absolutely sucks.

I haven't been to a home game at the Dome in a few years. Do we still not have anything that clearly showcases the 1987 or 1996 title games?

He should have been gone long ago

I'd say take a guess but you already know the answer.

I laugh every time I look up at either: what is up there or how/where it's placed.

It’s also not really a Brand role. Dealmakimg and trademark policing.

No strong brand person would apply for this. More legal than Creative.

And the look of the retired jerseys hanging in the dome is embarrassing. They look like Glad garbage bags. And there should be three 44' s up there for the big three.

It really is important. I am 46 thus i am in the middle of old soul, just suit up and play, yet, being a season ticket holder for 10+ years understand what the players and 23-30 demographic wants to see. The ironic thing is, Nike got waaaaay too cool and tried waaaay too hard with the Gotham theme. These kids dont care about NYC and you know what dont care about 44, so those dumb angled, ugly lines at 44 degrees on the shoulders are useless. Seriously , do we think kids play hoops at NCST bc of Jimmy V? No.

Look does matter. What the last regime allowed Nike to do and approve was a travesty. Heck, we arent even using the ol cuse ORANGE ! I look at our big national wins the last few years and look at the Grey's vs VT and then that crazy combo vs Clemson and the first thing i notice is our look, non look, not Cuse . Kids like bold, big numbers, solid combos need more white, less grey , more orange , less blue. With solid accents and bold #'s, Orange, CUSE orange and white are the way to go . Pick your hat, blue, orange, white.
