UB has a fairly large campaign on WFAN, but somehow I don't think they're getting many new fans to drive six hours to see the Bulls play Directional Michigans every week.
They can't get people to drive from North Tonawanda or Cheektowaga either. Because there is no pro basketball team in Buffalo, I could see UB possibly overtaking Canisius, Bonnies and Niagara as favorite hoops teams someday but football is owned by the Bills and college football is irrelevant to natives.UB has a fairly large campaign on WFAN, but somehow I don't think they're getting many new fans to drive six hours to see the Bulls play Directional Michigans every week.
Do you think they can charge enough and get enough people to cover the charter costs? How about charter buses for home games from some of the local cities such as Albany, Watertown(Fort Drum), Binghamton, and Rochester? Offer a ticket with travel to the home games. Run commercials in these cities offering this. It might not be that big in the beginning but once word gets out people will jump at it.

I think charters follow demand and not the other way around. They need to look at the problem. What's causing people not to want to go. I don't think the problem is that people don't want to drive to games and would go if there was a bus. Go back to Clemson. Say you get a group of not-yet-fans to go to that game. What are the odds they had such a good time they will be going to Wake Forest?Who knows?
A starting point might be to find another school in a similar situation where this has been done successfully.
I wouldn't do it. (It's too convenient and too easy to drive.)
I would love to become head of marketing/advertising at SU. I'm 100% serious. Hear me out...
-Graduated from Newhouse (so I'm an alum and was taught at the best communications school)
-Have worked in the advertising business for a number of years now in some of the largest NYC agencies
-Know what goes into producing materials, be they tv spots, print ads, billboards, etc.
-I know what can and cannot be done on a small budget. You'd be surprised what type of bad-assary has come out of small budget projects
I could go on, but I'll spare all of you.
As far as sports are concerned, if you live in Syracuse, you wouldn't even know UB existed.

Not sure yet. Waiting to see what. My schedule is. Game for tomorrow night. I had B'Ville and West Genny on Friday.
