A game at Yankee stadium is a home game for usThat article says the second game might be played at Yankee Stadium??? Sorry if this happens we better get a home game not a game 30 minutes from Rutgers.
This subject is a non-starter. It's only applicable if the league is down to 5 teams. They could play a double round-robin schedule and be all set.
Honestly, I have been all for leaving with class but if Meatball is actually trying to do this I say sue and get the hell out of the Big East for 2012. The Big East can't take away a home game from us and force to play a neutral site game even though Yankee Stadium would be appealing it still shouldn't take a game away from the Dome fans especially with USC at Metlife.
How would that even work? If WV leaves there are 7 BE teams. So everyone plays each other once (6 games) then one team a 2nd time? That still means one team is left out:
RU plays SU
UL plays Cincy
Pitt plays UConn
USF only plays 6 games while the others play 7?
Disagree Mr. Mark if they can't find a replacement all football schools should be free to find another opponent if they can and want too. If I am SU I try to help out a future conference brother and if we can't play at WVU then go and play at Florida State who needs a home game because of WVU screwing them. We could play at FSU on October 6 and the ACC could move Wake@FSU from Oct. 6 to Sept 8th and SU@FSU to Oct.6th. I would rather get some goodwill with the ACC rather than play RU twice.I'm thinking the extra game would be a non counter for league play. Not sure how else you could keep it equitible.
On the surface the idea sucks but it does solve a problem of finding an opponent at the last minute. Another factor is both schools (Cuse n Rutgers) were slated to play at WVU in 2012 so neither team would lose a BE home game this season. I would go along with it as long as Syracuse gets a home game versus Rutgers if we have to stay in the league for 2013-14.
Obviously the first game should be in October at Rutgers. The second game hopefully can be scheduled for YS over Veteran's Day weekend. Much better for fans who need to travel and it can be treated like an inseason special game. I would seriously look at flying up for a long weekend in NYC. I'm sure they would split the stadium in half for seating. Bottomline, unless they want to piss off a bunch of fans they better keep tickets in line with what Cuse/Rutgers charges for home games. Something around $40-60 tops for decent seats. We'll see.
If WVU leaves for 2012 Cuse has three games to fill. We just lined up 1AA Stony Brook and still need two more games (if WVU bolts). This would make it only one more game to find...much more manageable.
