SU Playing in Players Era NIL Tournament in Vegas in 2025

For the five team pod, there are three outcomes:
First scenario:
2-0
1-1
1-1
1-1
0-2

Second scenario:
2-0
2-0
1-1
0-2
0-2

Third scenario:
1-1
1-1
1-1
1-1
1-1

Only the first scenario can produce the unbiased pod winner.
 
I think there are four pods. Two pods have 4 teams each. Two pods have 5 teams each.
I just double checked. You're right about the number of pods, but wrong about how many teams are in them. 3 pods have 4 teams each, and one pod (ours) has 6 teams. It breaks down as follows:

Pod 1
Rutgers, Tenessee, Notre Dame, Houston, Syracuse, Kansas.

Pod 2
Creighton, Baylor, Iowa State, Saint Johns.

Pod 3
Auburn, Oregon, SDSU, Michigan.

Pod 4
Gonzaga, Alabama, UNLV, Maryland.

You are right. Maybe they are write off Notre Dame, Rutgers and us.
 
Apologies if this was already noted in the thread earlier, but I just saw that Darryn Peterson of Kansas is missing another game this weekend. Only wishing him to have a speedy recovery, but that is notable if he were potentially unable to play against SU in Vegas...

I saw you on the Locked on Syracuse podcast last week. Thought you did a nice job and I'll keep an eye out for your appearances. Jackson Holzer does a good job too.

Darryn Peterson has played in just two of Kansas's four games this season while dealing with hamstring issues that, strangely, one of the most moneyed programs in the country can't seem to figure out.

On Houston. One of my frustrations with the commentary many places has been that people are like the opponents get "tougher" in Vegas. That's the case for Game 2 and Game 3 but Houston is in another league.

This isn't some Big East game back in the day where we had 5 Big East teams in the top 25 just trading the #1 spot or Duke just getting that #1 ranking all year because it's Duke.

This is Houston who lost in the Natty game last year and in the Final 4 2 years ago. The uptick in competition is as high as it can possibly be. Since covid they are 163-24. #1 ranking and #1 in kenpom today. This is not a Quad 1 game for us, this should be Quad -10 game.

People want to see a competitive game and I do too but the reality is that there's maybe 3-5 teams a year that are doing that against Houston. Kansas and game 3 and Tenn though, that's another story.

I don't think anyone thinks Houston is bad, but we can give them a game. They lost their d1 exhibition game this year, and, like us, haven't played anyone good yet (that ends today). Last year, they started the season 3-4 or 4-3. If we had to pick a time to play them, it's now.
 
I may have missed this but is there any way our third game would be against St. John’s? That would be fun.
