This is crazy. UCONN gets really good players, but they don't get *all* of the really good players. No single team could. Of the 24 McDonald's All Americans this year for instance, exactly one of them has committed to UCONN -vs- three to Maryland, and two each to Notre Dame, Baylor and Standord. UCONN obviously does a great job with recruiting but their classes are not head and shoulders above the other top four or five programs. They win because of Geno and his staff.
And just out of curiosity, lets pretend that the imbalance really were just because all of the good players go to UCONN. What would you suggest be done about it?
Reduce the scholarships numbers to 13 like in men. This will allow more talent to be dispersed through out all of women's college basket ball instead of just at top. UCONN will still be a dominant team but it would create more competition which needs to be done. 15 scholarships is just way to much to have.
Not our team. They are playing for the whole thing. It does not even enter their mind otherwise. They are confident and have total belief that they can win tomorrow night. They are here for the championship. We basically won the championship, because every team was playing for 2nd place!
Auriema addressed this a few days ago. He said there are only 15 - 20 top level players going from H.S. to college every year. And, they get the lion's share. The rest are scattered all over the country. This is crazy. UCONN gets really good players, but they don't get *all* of the really good players. No single team could.
