I think SU's football student athletes successfully handled a whole lot of adversity this season. They continued to play hard throughout without making excuses. Go Cuse!!

Gee, thanks Mary Ellen. The successful one is the one with the woman and the unsuccessful one is that man. No bias there.

A friend of mine posted this chart on social media. I have no idea who Mary Ellen is, but the principles in this comparison make a lot of sense to me.

Wasn't my point. Why was it necessary to have a woman in the successful and the man in the unsuccessful slots? Why not have no figure there. I have to guess that MaryEllen had a agenda if we were ever able to speak with her. which I have no intention of ever seeking.

How about if she used a woman in both categories? Would that have any impact on whether or not the principles apply to humanity?

Actually in college football Success is ONLY measured in wins and loses

Ws and Ls are crucial, and without enough Ws coaches lose their jobs. Certainly for the student athletes, and even for the coaches in a broader sense, the experience goes beyond Ls and Ws. I consider the way a lot of these young men handled themselves this season a success. They can build off the way they faced this season's problems and work to get more Ws in the future.

Whatever? I didn't find the whole thing that thought prevoking.

Once we start judging SU football success based on this chart you can shoot me, shut down the program, and entirely change the meaning of competitive sports as we know it.
Aren't there any fans out there that want to win consistently again? Anyone? Or are we happy to lose and want to look for silver linings.

I would never judge SU football based on this chart. SU lost 9 games this season. That's a fact. I hated it. Now that it's the past I hope the student athletes are moving on and the coaches too. They can choose doom and gloom, or they can choose to get back to work and build on the character they showed this season.

The meaning of competitive sports should always come second to real and lasting success in real life. That's not an excuse for an unacceptable season - but the team could have sucked on and off the field.

In other words, you can be pissed at losing and still be proud of the kids for handling it well.

I think that will help them see wins on the field sooner, too.

I had to check 2x to make sure swish didn't post this and/or wasn't the author.

Chart is ridiculous and simple minded.

Never trust anyone with 2 1st names either dash, but Ill presume you likely know that.

Successful people know that infographics that dress up cliches and unsubstantiated claims with stick figures that serve no purpose are not useful

"Indicator" in the chart refers to attitudes, ways of being, mindsets that reflect how people operate in the world. This chart clearly defines nothing. Success has a different definition for different people in different situations. Success has different meanings for individuals across the different roles they play in their lives whether its family, work, or leisure. Some people define success as simply growing into one's own potential in each role, but each person chooses his or her own definition in each context.

In football Ws and Ls are crucial, and next season I hope SU wins 9 games. I think the attitudes and behaviors on both sides of the chart are a nice guide.

i just have a thing about infographics

Judging from the posts on this board ( and that includes all threads, not just this one), I think the majority of the posters here (including yours truly) would fall into the realm of Yellow Land. :p:bat::rolling:

Success is more than Ws and Ls

If HCSS started off one of his post game pressers after one of the many beatings we took this year, with the above, hed be rediculed more than the ISIS press conference. As mentioned above, in FBS college football, its ALL about wins and losses. If you dont want it to be about wins and losses, drop to FCS and call it a day.

I think we mostly agree. I've cut and pasted one of my previous comments:
