Was at the game at field level for the game yesterday...and when you start a post like that, you instantly feel smarter than say a real football analyst who is confined to watching on TV. Quick hits.
SUccesses
* No one will ever say they applaud the D when the other QB almost sets a completions record, but I will. I don't have a hue problem with the D other than my glaring question: is Dyshan Davis redshirting while playing this year???
* This team needs a Robert Downing dude (or three) on the DL so bad. Blown away by what Thompson is playing out of position. Need him back permanently at DE to be a force.
* Riley Dixon just does his job. And as our leading TD passer (Nova) and rusher (ND), a bunch of other people's too.
* Hunt. Given that we had Nassib running a killer offense, NFL-coaches running the program and for two years, a recruiter that can sell, I would've thought by now there'd be a purer, fluid QB manning the ship. We don't have it. Hunt is as hard-nosed and fierce as they come. We can win with this guy and no, he's not an All-Conference-type.
* Jerrod West. The dude with "eh" speed got open and caught stuff. Used his body well. Kudos.
* The helmets. Rocked.
* Turnovers. We created them or least got them.
* The atmosphere. Impressive. Mostly due to the other guys, but having been at the G'Men game less than a week earlier, the lots were full and it had a solid college football atmosphere, something this Stadium has never had.
SUcks
* 3rd down play calling. GMac's play calling from 1st down (aggressive) to What on 3rd has lead us to a 102nd ranking on conversions here. It's like is playbook has 20 condoms on it; no feel.
* Turnovers that lead nowhere. Gifts that are returned. The only instance where we scored off one was the same damn play which it happened with the Pick 6.
* PTG. I'm sure he can pick up blitzes and do some of the little things, but he can't do the big thing of being a playmaker. He needs less touches, IMO.
* We need a dedicated special teams coach. This needs little explanation.
* Kendall Moore injury scared the hell out of me and by boys at the game. The young trainer yelled to sidelines frantically as if he was not breathing or convulsing horribly. Scariest thing since the Shamarko Thomas concussion in the Dome when he laid flat and his army came down slowly...
* We need more Hip Hop played during the game.
