Terrel Hunt on the New Direction of the SU Offense and the Return of Sean Hickey (PS; Axe)

Syracuse University football quarterback Terrel Hunt smiled when presented with the question of his left tackle, Sean Hickey, deciding to come back to Syracuse instead of entering the NFL Draft.

"I texted him right away and just said thank you," Hunt said.

In the video above, Hunt discusses Hickey's return, the new direction of the Syracuse offense, and how things are going so far in spring practice.

SU Opener Against Villanova Moved to Friday Night (PS; Mink)

Joe Giansante, the chief of communications for SU's athletic department, cited several reasons for the date change.

1. He said moving the game to Friday will give fans more flexibility in planning their Labor Day weekend.

2. The season opener for many schools that Saturday is viewed as a big event. "Moving this game enhances the chance we can get greater distribution for the game," Giansante said.

Syracuse Spring Football Underway (AP; Anonymous)

Spring football practice is underway for the Syracuse Orange.

There's a lot of work to do.

"A lot of things to clean up," coach Scott Shafer said Thursday after the first practice with pads. "They've got a long way to go to where we want them to be. We made progress. That's all you can ask.

Syracuse lost 19 players from the Texas Bowl-winning team, including captains Jay Bromley, Macky MacPherson, Jerome Smith and Marquis Spruill. And Shafer's staff includes two new faces — offensive line coach Joe Adam, former head coach at Elmhurst College, and tight ends coach Bobby Acosta, former head coach at Widener.

"I always say, 'Whisper the weaknesses, but continue to work on them hard.' "

Junior OL Quinn Oseland Impressed During OSU Visit (11th Ward; Wagner)

Junior offensive lineman Quinn Oseland was one of a handful of prospects that took in Ohio State's spring practice on Saturday. Like the rest of the prospects, he came away impressed.

Oseland told 11W that his visit was "great." What stood out on his visit to Columbus? "The energy of the practice and just the way they handle it," the Illinois native said. "I got to talk to a bunch of coaches and saw all of practice."

The 6-foot-6, 310 pound lineman from Springfield, Illinois is rated as the 71st-best offensive tackle in the nation, according to 247Sports.

Oseland holds offers from Arizona State, California, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Northern Illinois, Oregon, Syracuse, Toledo, Utah, Washington State and Wyoming. Plenty of other schools are showing interest, but have yet to extend an offer.

Ottawa Fury Tie Syracuse Soccer Team in Quebec (Ottawa Citizen; Holder)

New jerseys, both home and away, a signing to complete the 23-man roster and a tie in the final preseason friendly before the home crowd, all in one day, for Ottawa Fury FC.

The North American Soccer League expansion club wrapped up the opening segment of its first training camp ever with a 2-2 draw against the Syracuse University Orange at the Branchaud-Briere Complex in Gatineau.

Fury FC had the first genuine scoring opportunities, but Syracuse produced the first goal in the 17th minute, when forward Chris Nanco sped down the right side and flicked a short pass to Emil Ekblom for a quick strike past keeper Devala Gorrick.

The pros took a while to even the count, but they did so in the 36th minute, when Tom Heinemann headed in a cross past Syracuse keeper Alex Bono.

I want one of those Syracuse soccer jerseys
My husband is a Syracuse grad who played soccer at Syracuse and has been trying to find one of these Jerseys. We have had no luck finding anything. If someone knows where we can get one I would love to know.

The school was selling them briefly earlier this year but I missed the order cut off. Seemed as though demand was high enough that they hopefully consider doing It next year as well. Visit the board more often and you'll find lots of good tidbits. Someone initially posted the link on the basketball board last summer and being a football first fan wasn't checking that board often enough in the offseason to catch it.
