SWC died last night (3/17) at 9:30.

Steve passed as he had wished. He fell asleep and didn't wake up.

For the past few weeks, there has been some discomfort but no significant pain. He has been in and out of sleep for the last several days.

Seems appropriate given 3.17.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Yes, I just opened my email and his friend Fran told me but gave me no details. I asked her if someone was with him? I hope she writes back. I am sure she is very sad.

The sad thing for me is that I only got to visit him one time and could only read him about 25 tributes. I wondered at the time if he could take them in, although he did chuckle a couple times so I think he did. I was going to go this morning. When I called yesterday Fran was with him and said he was too tired from visitors.

Steve, you were not able to hear all your tributes about how you were appreciated, admired, and honored but now that you are on the other side - which you don’t believe in - you will be able to feel them in full!

What a hole he will leave in this board.

I took him for granted. All those Upside/Downsides, Why SU will win, historical analyses, etc. He put an unbelievable amount of time into all of them. With SWC every post had a thoughtful purpose -- never H0T Takes or streams of consciousness or insults.

There will never, ever be another SWC on this board.

Thanks to God for lending us Steve. He was full of Orange history and often reminded me of the history my father always relayed to me and my brother, the same history I shared with may daughters. Though I was not able to read everything he wrote, everything I was able to read was appreciated.

You will be missed, Steve. SWC75 has left the field.

Steve was such an amazing contributor to our community here. Quick story he called my office one day with a few questions. I helped him and at the end I asked are you Steve from North Syracuse from the radio. He chuckled and said yes. I knew it was him just from the voice. If you listen to sports radio in Syracuse in the last two decades you knew Steve’s voice. I will miss his post so much. Bless you Steve. I am glad to shared SU fandom with you for the last twenty years.

So sad to hear. But glad he went the way he wanted. God bless you Steve. There will never be another SWC. You were a one of a kind and a legend on this board. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and friends.

RIP SWC. No more coach's show question of the week and write up, why each team will win, upside/downside and the various history missives.

The guy really put it all into SU sports and to this board.

Sad day for the board, but I'm glad he was able to have a peaceful transition.

Thank you AccuRater for keeping us informed. But more importantly, thank you for being Steve’s friend.
