Syracuse basketball "Fans"

Game 2 vs Fordham - a guy a few rows behind me is yelling incessantly at Rakeem Christmas for not getting a rebound. Hey guy...there's a reason Rak can't get that rebound...he's on the bench. That's Jerami Grant out there.

Another guy is asking when Jerami Grant will be back. We're now 15 minutes into the 1st half and Grant has been in the game for quite some time. I just sit there shaking my head.

I'm definitely not backing up those guys you dealt with, but I have to admit, I was watching the game last night on my laptop and there were times where I had trouble telling the difference between BJ and Jerami, as well Roberson and Rak. The BJ and Jerami thing was really bugging me because they are both super skinny, have a single-digit number, and wear sleeves on their legs. There was one nice play that BJ had where I completely thought it was Grant...lol. I've never had trouble telling who's who before!

I takes a lot to annoy me at a game. About the only thing that does... is when I am sitting next to a guy who spends the entire game... calling everyone he knows on his cellphone and yelling into his phone ... "Turn on the Syracuse basketball game and look at me. I am sitting behind the Syracuse bench (or wherever)."

At some point, I always turn to the guy and say: "Act like you've been here before. Your shouting is ruining it for the rest of us."

The things that annoy me at a game:

People arriving late. I've stated this in another thread. Get here on time or stay the home. No excuse you can give me other than you we were in a car accident that will work here so dont even try to justify one. And yes you are going to get a dirty look or comment from me if you arrive late and you happen to sit in front of me. you.

People constantly getting up and leaving their seats. I never leave my seat once the game starts. Ever. That goes for halftime.

People that stand up while on their cell phones to waive at friends looking for them. Sit the down and get your big a$$ our of my face please.

I had to mention this in response to this post just for laughs. I have been acknowledged as Jerami's Father, Harvey for two weeks in a row and I clearly have on a #2 shirt with Johnson on the back of it. I kindly say that I'm BJ's father and they either start a conversation or continue to walk away. Oh Well. See you guys Saturday.

That is a true statement. It sounds like it might be a good idea to steer clear of it during a close game. ;)
In all honesty, I've stayed away from the chat room completely since early last season. Perhaps it's changed now, but previously it was the Wild West, regardless of how the game was going.

I use it as an opportunity to reflect and realize that I'm a huge fan, and maybe more so than anyone else around me. Make me feel good about my passion.

That being said it is annoying. The person behind me would ask who made the last basket, and used old names...
Ex. "Was that Demetris Nichols?" Circa 2012

In her defense, she was getting up there!

You should tell them you are not Harvey you're Horace. Confuse them even more.

I'm basically like a young Marsh clone. I love college basketball and I occasionally drink PBR. I literally follow these exact steps while at a game and the same exact things annoy me. There really isn't anything worse than people getting up and leaving DURING the game. I hate late arrivals, but I kind of understand it because sometimes people have to pick up/drop off their kids, dinner, work, etc.

The student section is the worst thing ever for people getting up and leaving during the games. Also, everyone on their phones DURING game play frustrates me to no end. I must be too obsessed and think everyone else needs to be obsessed and as interested as I am. But, really, why the hell did you even go to the game? The students think it's a cool activity and go to the game just to say they went, even though they didn't watch more than 5 minutes of the game, and they understood none of it.

Last night at the game there was a couple behind me that literally spent the ENTIRE game looking at pictures on their cell phone. I mean they must have went through 400 pictures. Pics of the house, pics of the kids, vacations I mean everything. They did not watch one minute of the game. Why even bother going.

I will admit that I use my cell phone during the game but it is strictly texting back and forth with people about the actual game itself.

The one thing that annoys me during basketball games is when girls come up to me asking for my number. When I'm sitting court side behind the basket all I want to do is watch the game. Instead I have girls on the dance team asking me to meet them later at chucks. What

I LOVE that! The rest of us might want to store that in our armamentarium.

Many years ago with Craig 4th was still playing but was every want to be coach is whipping boy he had the same thing happened. Guy was behind me was screaming for Craig Forth to get the rebound and he had been out of the game for about 8 to 10 minutes. I turned around and said Forth's not in the game and if you don't know more about basketball than that, shut up.
I don't think we heard a word from him the rest of the season.
Its all of our jobs to stamp out ignorance.

A guy who used to sit a few rows in front of me used to yell, "flash and recover," every time the opponent was setting up for a pick and roll. Definitely not shout friendly words.
