When my son, SU '03 and an occasional poster, was playing Legion ball in the summers of 97, 98 & 99 one of his teammates was a kid from the neighborhood, Mark Minicozzi. I see his Dad occasionaly and have followed Mark's career since his days at East Carolina, in the minors, Independent leagues, Tommy John surgery, he has never given up the dream. He is now 32 years old and on the Chiefs roster. Nice young man from a great family, he has never made the Majors, hopefully he will get a call up at one point.
Ironic part of this story...another of Brian's teammates on those Legion teams was a kid named Gavin McCrory who was the stepson of Lenny Dykstra. Lenny's son, Cutter, was running around during those games. He is now a non-roster invitee in the Nationals camp so I suspect that Minnicozzi and Dykstra will soon be teammates.
