i'll never understand why people look at third down as if that mattersHis guess is as good as any other I suppose.
42K average attendance would be fine enough.

shocking a team that's in the 80s in offense is in the 80s on third down.
Nova: 33 000 w (1-0)
Maryland: 40 000 w (3-0)
Louisville: 41 500 w (4-1)
Florida State: 49, 250 L (4-2)
NC state: 34 000 w (6-3)
Duke: 39 500 w (7-3)
Pitt: 40 000 L (7-4)
Axe is low balling us across the board, 28 000 for the home opener! C'MON! Can't make attendance predictions without a w/l prediction. How the heck does Axe think we will have 31 000 for Maryland when we are 2-0????
We go 8-4: L: ND, FSU, CLEMSON, PITT
Every game winnable cept FSU, yes Clemson we can beat you! Now go start crying about disrespect Clemsoners!
Maybe I'm alone in thinking the Nova game will have decent attendance? i mean It's the home opener ? I was thinking close to 40k?

Are they having a party and putting up a screen for for the Pitt game, cause last time I checked that game was @ Pitt
I agree.
I think Axe is way off.
Folks are excited about this team.
They will show up for Nova.
And, if the Orange starts well and wins, the crowds will come.
The ACC, Scott Shafer, the excitement over the QB, the bowl win in Texas, the increased prominence of college football - all of these factors will result in much better attendance in 2015.
Axe is looking through old and obsolete glasses in my opinion.
Full_Rebar said:I'm not sure the average person is overly excited about this team right now. I have honestly heard very little from a lot of people about going to games and I think many are taking a wait and see approach. Axe gets a lot of local feedback, so he's not just pulling numbers out of his ass. That's why I've been killing SU about generating a buzz. We still have some time, so we'll see what comes up.
I'm not sure marketing is the answer alone. I'd market the crap out of the "Shafer buys your ticket" stuff though. It's all pocketbook stuff until we put some wins up on the board.
Cue Scooch and his 1991 home opener story (my freshman year as well). Different times, sure, but 35k in the Dome opener for Vandy. And I'd bet people were a lot more excited about that season.
I just don't see it for the 1-AA on the Friday of Labor Day weekend.. But I also don't really see a problem with it. If that announced # is above 35k, we should be thrilled. That will be Shafer's offer at work.
What really cracks me up about these articles is the estimates of actual attendees. Which is an actual # that no one will ever know, but everyone will feel really smart about their # they come up with.
My bad.Are they having a party and putting up a screen for for the Pitt game, cause last time I checked that game was @ Pitt
Seriously? 28 000 for a home Opener?
Embarrising if you ask me.

which is why the NFL moved off it.Announced will probably be ~40K.
Which is fine.
Take a look at pictures of a lot of stadiums on Labor Day weekend and compare their announced crowds to how it looks.
We'll have company, believe me.
