Syracuse football 14 in '14: Projecting the crowds at the Carrier Dome this season (PS: Axe)

Yup, especially if we're 3-1 or 4-0.

It's real unacceptable to not be sold out for that game if we're 4-0...I'd be very disappointed with a crowd under 45,000 if we're 3-1 too.

when the cheap ticket for the Vill game is $30 you know its too screwed up to understand.. as others have said they need to bite the bullet blow it all up and try to build the crowds back up.. with no demand the high price of tickets is just going to keep killing any momentum to decent crowds unless by some miracle we start running off 6-7-8 wins in a row.

im not sure that if vill tickets were all under $30 the demand would change much but you are killing the walkup for that price. they should be eating the tickets for game one to try to get people in the door, hope we start 3-1 or 4-0 and people like the product. sell everything 2 for 1 . 3 for 1 , whatever it takes to get people to watch, offer season tickets a one time no preferred rate. make the season ticket a bargain compared to single game purchases and really try to get more people to all the games notjust the FSU game..

one reason Bball does so much better is the lack of good seats , people are forced to buy season tickets if they want decent seats. fball needs to work harder.

Dont see a reason why we shouldnt sell out vs louisville ... I mean come on
I'm freeing up two seats...I'll be down on the field for Louisville with Tomcat.

Upperdeck...for a walkup...they should offer a last minute special for $10 seats...go through Empower FCU

I think and hope things are different this year. It just seems as if there is more interest these days. And, it's a Friday night - a fun night out for parents and kids. The SU Football Community is truly hungry for success - and hungry for a top flight dual purpose QB. I think a lot of folks are excited about Hunt and the prospects for an exciting offense. I think they love Shafer and love the ACC thing. My guess is that we draw a lot more than 35,000.

We could be 35-40k vs Nova if the out of town fans showed up like you do.

This is a big problem. And here's a real-time example... I got an email about there being an Alumni pre-sale today for a bunch of games. I'm planning on attending the Maryland game with my family, but haven't bought tickets yet, so I just logged on to check it out. Four seats in section 129, on the 20 yard line, are $95 each. That seems to be way too high given the market, recent program performance, and demand. A comparable seat in Foxboro for a Pats game is $195. That makes the SU ticket seem more reasonable, but if you consider the vast difference in performance, and that the Pats have sold out every home game for TWENTY years running, it actually makes the Pats ticket look like a steal. Gotta fix this, I think.

I'm sure you know that includes the pro rated cost of the donation for preferred seats. What they need to do, especially with the new ACC money coming in, is blow up their whole donation structure, make it cheaper to buy seasons in those donation levels, get it more filled in, then slowly start increasing the donation again.

Maybe I'm alone in thinking the Nova game will have decent attendance? i mean It's the home opener ? I was thinking close to 40k?

Depends to be honest. The buy one get on ticket offer will absolutely help but honestly its tough to gauge a number because theres no real buzz yet. If its a gorgeous night out attendance will be hurt by the Fair unfortunately. I would say somewhere between 35-38,500 actual butts in seats is what were looking at. I can't really see 40K plus.

Here's my guessimate regarding this years Dome attendance:
Nova: 38,000 (Cuse fans buy-in to HCSS free ticket)
Maryland: 43,000 (ACC vs. B1G match-up)
Louisville: 47,500 (Fri. nite game and Cuse is 4 - 0 after win in NJ vs. ND)
Florida State: 49, 250 (Sell-out to see #1 team and Heisman Trophy winner)
NC state: 44,000 (Partying SU students/fans are now pysched for football)
Duke: 46,000 (Intense hoops rivalry continues on the gridiron)
Pitt: 47,000 (Cuse fighting for 2nd place in Coastal and better Bowl positioning)
Average: 44,964 (Best since 1999 when team averaged 46,741)
Cuse is in the atlantic but I like where your head is at!

This is so freaking obvious, why can't anyone who can make this happen do so? So frustrating.

isnt one perk of the donation levels is that they are a tax right off donation?

What really cracks me up about these articles is the estimates of actual attendees. Which is an actual # that no one will ever know, but everyone will feel really smart about their # they come up with.
Someone should know since they scan the ticket of everyone that enters the dome.
