I think Davis kid will be an upgrade at lg from this years as he didn’t have the year I imagined he would have after his injury last year. I think Servais will take LT and do really well pass blocking and maybe better run blocking without worrying about hiking. C is Heckel who I think is about even with Servais Rg will be Adams who at this point should be Dominant next year in both pass and run. I think the red shirt frosh Virtullo takes Rt. Not positive on this but a hunch with other Davis as backup to the guards and and the really tall kid who his name escapes me at this point as backup tackle. Hoping White surprises us but I think he is another year away. As u have heard practice is going, how close am I Caretaker. It’s all about the O line and we won’t know till late August how they will be

Gotta be some combo of Heckel, Adams, Servais, D. Davis, P. Davis and maybe Tisdale/White in the mix.
I'm hoping White is a quick study. I love the idea of getting that size on the field.I think Davis kid will be an upgrade at lg from this years as he didn’t have the year I imagined he would have after his injury last year. I believe from most reports, his issue will be getting his body ready for D1 P5 football. Didnt come in, in the best shape.I'm hoping White is a quick study. I love the idea of getting that size on the field.
Hopefully he buys into the conditioning program. If he does, and that was his only problem, that can be fixed in 1 year, especially with this S&C staff.I believe from most reports, his issue will be getting his body ready for D1 P5 football. Didnt come in, in the best shape.
My personal concern is Devito takes scrambling and QB runs off the option kinda off the table. Not completely but Dungey was an incredible athlete. I tend to like college QBs that can run. It eases things picking up 3rd downs with an athletic QB. Devito has a better arm but just incrementally and Dungey was a Sr. While Devito will just be a So. Experience wise Devito may struggle a bit. I did notice Dungey did miss some open passes that I hope Devito sees. Overall Devito will be solid but I don't think his So. self will be as good as a Sr Dungey. Close but not quite as good. We will need our run game with Adams, Neal, and Howard to do more of the heavy lifting.Kind of interested to see if the offense itself changes a bit with Devito at the helm, the players allude to the offense itself changing or at least that is how I took the comments not just the fact that their will be new guys. Devito I would think certainly opens up the playbook a bit.
You think Devito's arm in only incrementally better? It is nice when a qb can threaten a defense with the run, but in this offense I am fine with a guy that can get rid of the ball quickly and has a good enough pocket presence to keep a play alive to throw downfield. Devito has shown good straight ahead speed, he just doesn't have the feel and moves Dungey had in the open field. The read option is still in play with him. With an improving supporting cast we shouldn't have to depend on our qb to run so much.My personal concern is Devito takes scrambling and QB runs off the option kinda off the table. Because Devito is not the running threat that Dungey is, we will need to upgrade the OL. Dungey made plays when the pocket collapsed. I don't think Devito can do that to the same degree.

I think a scrambling QB in college is so important.I hope so.

Good points ... although 6'4 230 is a lot harder to take down than 6'2 210. No question Dungey's mobility and size were a huge part of our success ... first downs, red zone, amazing scrambles. We're going to miss that.Devito can certainly run and scramble better than the Fat Pirate did for Dino at BGSU.
And that dude put up video game #'s. No reason Tommy D can't do likewise.
And his running is very underrated - no, he's not the elusive, intuitive runner Dungey is, but he's not a statue back there either.
Kid has wheels. And he is a fantastic athlete.
He doesn't have to be tough to take down. He only needs to take what's there and then get on the ground. If he makes the right read and gets 4-5 yards when it's there (he often got more than that this past year), that'll keep the defense honest and keep things open for the other aspects of the offense. He should only need to run as a change up, not be the hero like Dungey was forced to do too often.Good points ... although 6'4 230 is a lot harder to take down than 6'2 210.
