As Syracuse gets ready to leave the Big East, all is not rosey. From a struggling football team with its share of on and off the feild issues, poor recruiting, and a terrible schedule facing the Orange next year, we all must brace for another tuff year to be a CUSE fan. As for Basketball, from Fine, to the media Fiasco put on by JB, to the Drug Scandle which may even involve the 2003 NC Team, along with the ongoing Fab Melo Saga, the press have been having a field day against the Orange.

This poses alot of questions. Are we going to run Marrone out of town? Will JB retire or should he retire after this very tuff year? Is the AD at fault here for not maintaining control? Will more issues surface on eligeability about Fab's first reinstatement? Is it me or is recruiting looking bad for 2013 at Syracuse? We need to stop the negative press and move on to doing the right thing. Maybe the Melo action taken by Syracuse is a step in the right direction. I have seen that Marrone has been tuff on offenders in football, but I would like some of your views on where we stand.

I'd still rather be us than UConn, Rutgers, or anyone that's going to be stuck in the Sun Beast.

I will say the football team has not had poor recruiting. In fact, we are bringing in players that fit the current system. They may be "under the radar", but many schools were trying to poach them as signing day neared. Just because we don't get all 4 & 5 star players does not mean that we aren't getting great athletes who will excel. The ratings system is so overdone it's not even funny.

We do have a difficult schedule next year, but so be it! Marrone refused to play cupcakes and I completely back him on that. Does it suck for the fans? Yes. We are in the middle of a transition that will bring us out of this hellhole and into the ACC. Everything will be better in 2 years. Our schedule will be balanced out with quality opponents and many good games in the Dome.

As far as bball, yes it has certainly been a year to forget. On the other hand, we're 31-2 and headed into the Tourney as a 1 seed. It has been a great year in that regards, and it is amazing how well the players have responded to adversity all year. With Fab being gone, this is yet another obstacle that they will have to get over. I am confident they will.

See you in Pitt, Boston and NOLA. 37-2.

Thanks for a different view, and I admit I have been impatient to say the least. I love our BB program but my number 1 love is CFB, and a return to being relevent. I agree that many 4 and 5 star players in the rating system are over rated, but we have lost a couple from our state of late and even with this recruiting year for 2012, we leave our self very vulnerable at RB and LB positions. With the return of Nassib, along with Sales and Lemon, we may have a better passing game, but with the losses at RB, there has to be concern. I like the shake up at Coaching, and we'll have to see how that computes to consistency on the field on both sides of the ball.

As for BB, your heart goes out to the players on this team as they have held up through everything. I am optimistic they will be in NO, and depending on the match ups, have a great shot to win it all, guess that is all we can ask for. So rout rout rout for the Orange, and may the express not stop till the Kentucky faithful are derailed!

You know we have a board for football.

My response/opinion is this: It's the NCAA freaking tournament right now. I'll worry about any of that when it's over. Sheesh people. Let's keep an eye on the ball here.

Sorry guys, this was a big picture topic, not just about football. It is completely relevent to what is going on right now. All the media is all over Syracuse right now. It has dominated Mike & Mike. Evrey word JB says is being analyzed. If there is a better place to talk about this let me know, but as for where just about all of this buzz in the media is coming from is from and centered on the BB program. Lost in yesterdays media day circus was the call at the end of teh first half. Maybe the shot didn't count, but the foul happened before the shot clock expired. Trish should have been awarded foul shots at least.

one reason SU gets so much negative Press is because of an absense of Defenders speaking in defense of the University . Where are the (SID,PR,Chancellor,AD)? The only one talking out about the crap is JB, Then people on this Board chastise him for speaking out. The aforementioned group above is gutless. Where were they when the APR story unfolded and was not refuted? Media Fiasco by JB? He's the only one with guts, he's in with a bunch of Quislings.

This is a huge part of our problem IMO. Cantor, Gross et al. have just done a disappearing act when now more than ever we need a united front. 90% of the stuff being thrown at Syracuse is nothing but BS and the other 10% is being twisted to meet an agenda. I am greatly disappointed in how the Chancellor and AD of my alma mater have handled the recent string of media assaults.

Yet another example of political correctness run-a-muck! I'm so sick of all this "feel good" BS that started with Title 9. God, I hate the 24 hour news cycle...especially since most casual fans are clueless and eat this stuff up.

It all starts with the local media. The reporters covering programs like Kansas and Duke are just as much die-hard fans as the students and alumni. The local paper wouldn't consider exposing a team-related scandal like the PS did in the early 90s or is trying to do now. Some students writing for the DO have their sights set on a dream gig in NYC and are willing to sell their school up the river in order to obtain it.

Because even the small, barely-there controversies get sufficiently buried in Lawrence and Durham, nothing festers. There's no spotlight.
