Syracuse mentions in The Athletic's Recruiting Confidential series

The Athletic (subscription required) has been interviewing high school coaches and then asking them about CFB recruiting in their state. It's a fascinating look at recruiting from the other side and how relationships are built. To date, I have seen articles about Pennsylvania, Ohio and South Carolina.

Pennsylvania: Two mentions of Syracuse. Reno Ferri was called out as a strong recruiter from out-of-state and Justin Lustig was too. This discussion was really interesting. Two takeaways, Pitt is potentially vulnerable for in-state kids and the sleeping giant mentioned by several coaches was Rutgers (specifically the Philly area).

South Carolina: Syracuse was specifically mentioned as doing well in the Charlotte area by one coach and Dino Babers was mentioned as a great recruiter by another.

The Ohio article did not mention Syracuse.

Michigan: Another mention of Syracuse as a school that does a good job recruiting the state. Mostly Big Ten and Michigan/Michigan St talk. Mike Hart mentioned as a great recruiter as well.

No mention of Cuse in California...but those coaches do not like UCLA's approach to recruiting.

Doubt we'll be mentioned in Florida, and Monroe seems to be the closer - not doing the long game work.

PA has a whole lot of east vs west rivalry.

Dino is named as the most trusted coach by one of the coaches and Ferri is named as one of the best assistants recruiting the state. Cuse didn’t come up in the questions asking about who does a bad job recruiting. Seems like NJ coaches like Dino

PA should split into 4 states

GMacNEPA: NY border to Scranton Wilkes-Barre/Hazelton

Great quotes in that article. Jersey guys really like talking to Jersey coaches.

Addazio seems to be widely hated in NJ. Dino seems to be liked and it was mentioned that the players love playing for him. Fran Brown mentioned as the biggest win for Rutgers.
