Honestly, not that bad. I actually think we hang with them. The UVA game has more of the blowout feel. We never play well there.

That’s nice of them, would be crazy to imagine 4.5 line at home. Maybe the home game will be close but I struggle to see this being much of a game in the second half

Including UNC there is a reasonable chance the Orange could lose at least the next 6 games.
Cal and SMU should not be underestimated.
Especially Cal.
Certainly hope not... but this could turn into the worst debacle since the 22 game losing streak in 1961-62.

I'm sort of thinking the opposite. UVA was lucky to escape ND with a win. I think UNC boat races us.
UNC’s guards are terrible imo. If we can limit the big fellas, I think we have a shot. Something about UVA at home. Have we ever won there?

That was actually 27 straight loses 1961-62.

I just looked it up. It was 27 straight. The last 5 games of 60-61 and the first 22 games of 61-62. I remember it. It set a then new NCAA D1 record (which currently is held by Towson at 41). SU basketball was not well followed then. Football was king (1959 National Champions). And the NBA Nats were still in town. Marc Guley was the coach & I think games were played at the War Memorial. It led to the hiring of Fred Lewis as coach and the turnaround began.

i think the key with UNC is their two bigs Wilson and Veesaar - pretty much going to decide the game - freeman/white vs wilson and veesaar vs kyle - IF SU's bigs simply play them even - gotta like SUs chances for a win. UNC doesnt have much beyond those 2 guys.

as a matchup, I like SUs chances, esp coming off a nice win.

could very well be a blowout loss if SUs interior defense struggles, though

if the refs hit kyle and white with a bunch of soft fouls, it will likely get ugly...hopefully that doesnt happen

I agree. I watched UNC play Cal earlier this year and no one stood out aside from Wilson and Veesaar...I was sitting there thinking...this is a ranked team?

i truly think the talent gap between SU and UNC is non-existent. Davis isnt even a good coach, either. so the coaching isnt really a huge disadvantage, either. Red beat Davis 2 years ago iirc

this is where momentum and previous winning comes into play though.,...UNC will expect to win, Su might expect to lose, if only even subconscously

But IF SU can win this game and the UVA game, all of a sudden the season will decidedly not be over (again)

100000% agree with all of this. I will add that I actually give us the guard edge

I think it was a January game that went to OT. Joe and Buddy got hot in OT I think.
Buddy hit that insane 35 foot bank shot grenade as the shot clock expired. If you watch the replay half of the crowd got up and left after that one.
