Syracuse releases its Week 1 depth chart.

A few depth issues depending on how the true freshmen respond to playing at this level. With the possible lack of impact DT I wish SU had more LB's so a 3-4 was possible. Could have a tough time with powerful push OL's. That said...

Talented team and if the special teams creates and the kickers are solid plus keeping the injury bug away from some lack of depth positions this team should have a lot of success this year. Still not thrilled with wr's but I expect to be pleasantly surprised with some being 2 years into the system hopefully they will find the leaks in the defensive backfields and take advantage.

It had been reported in the last week or so that Lasker was also getting work at guard so I'd agree with RICuse44 that with Robinson out, Lasker is prepared to be the 6th guy. He could probably play wherever needed (except center) if one of the guards or tackles go down during the Nova game unless we're up by a lot.

yep, or if a guard gets hurt foy slides down and lasker comes in at tackle.

just thinking out loud.. say were up 49-10 mid fourth quarter.. does SS put long in?

Good to see Alvin Cornelous on the 2-Deep. The kid is quiet and we never heard his name all spring but he can definitely catch the ball and has great chemistry with Hunt from back when they were both backups in Nassib's final year

Watch for ACIII to make some plays this year

If Long sees the field this year, I take it to mean they think Edouard is the future.

Risky strategy ... betting the future on a kid who's not currently on campus.

IMO, I hope AJ doesn't get the "Johnnie Morant" treatment. Don't blow his RS year unless he's going to contribute all season long.

The coaches know more than me and obviously kids can improve, but based on his highlight tapes and his lack of stature I just can't see Long being the long-term solution at the position (no pun intended).

I don't know, I think Long could be pretty dynamic.

This is just a nitpick, but why is Eskridge not bolded as a returning starter?

How serious is Nick Robinson's injury? I don't see him on the 2 deep, and I assume that's the reason for his omission.

He didn't play in the bowl game.

It's based on the Texas Bowl starters.
I know, but that's still dumb. He's a returning starter. He should be highlighted. But again, it's just a minor nitpick. It's just not the way I do that stuff for my depth charts.

To lull our enemies into a false sense of hope.

Opposing coaches before the game "oh they have a new safety starting this year, we should target him"

Delone was in that ball park, if I recall.

DC3 measured 5'9 222lbs at the NFL combine. 1) Estime isn't that jacked, few are 2) I'd bet a great deal of money Estime isn't truly 5'9 as listed

Yeah, no way is he 209. He should never get above 190. Tavon Austin, for comparison, is the same height but listed at 174. That's the guy Brisly needs to be emulating, after all.
I'd be ok if he emulated Barry Sanders. He was in the low 200's at 5'8" and he did ok.

If he is going to be a 30+ carry a game running back, he'd have to add weight. Not as a 10-15 touch per game guy

Donnie Simmons apparently not the 2nd coming of Dwight Freeney.

I'm not saying he has to add weight, just that adding quality weight doesn't have to make him slower. We also need to be careful when comparing him to other players of the same height. Same height doesn't necessarily mean same body type (you could look at Hakim Warrick -vs- Carmelo Anthony for a basketball comparison). We don't know what his S&C program was before coming here. If he ends up a little over 200 lbs as a senior, I don't think it'll hurt him one bit. Regardless of position or number of touches, more weight at the same speed will make him harder to tackle.

But Brisly is very clearly not a Barry Sanders type. He's absolutely a Tavon Austin type. So it's fitting to compare the two because of the role we expect Brisly to play.
