The Massey comparison ratings takes the ratings of 50* different sources - human polls, computer ratings, etc. - and combines them into one summary ranking of all 345 division 1 teams.
Despite losing to ND and dropping in the human polls, SU still retains its overall #1 due to its strength in the computer rankings. The lead has shrunk considerably - last week, SU was +2.7 over Kentucky, this week it is down to +0.29.
