I am going to grade the talent on this roster and give my grades.
QB- C: Drew Allen, Terrel Hunt are right now average. They each have their own strengths Allen has a strong arm, Hunt has good scrambling abilities. Charlie Loeb and the freshman aren't playing.
RB- A-: Clearly the best of the offensive skill positions on the team. Jerome Smith is all-ACC caliber and Prince Tyson-Gulley is a real solid backup and complements the backfield nice. Devante McFarlane and George Morris are the future and have good potential.
WR-D+: Ashton Broyld is solid, Adrian Flemming getting hurt killed this position. Chris Clark, Jarrod West, Jeremiah Kobena have all struggled and can't get open against BCS competition.
TE- B: Beckett Wales, Josh Parris have talent, but haven't been used a lot in the offense thus far, but they are solid.
OL-B: Sean Hickey, Rob Trudo, Macky MacPherson, Nick Robinson, Ivan Foy. Have all performed above my expectations and they have come together nicely.
Overall Offense GPA- 2.67 = B-
Defense
DE: C-: Robert Welsh, Micah Robinson, Ron Thompson. They haven't gotten much pressure and really this is because of Welsh's INT against Penn State and Thompson's potential. They should get a D+ but I am being nice.
DT-B+: Jay Bromley, Zian Jones, Eric Crume, Jon Raymon(get healthy bigman wish you the best) we have talent and depth here before Raymon's injury. Good job recruiting here.
LBs-B+: Cam Lynch, Marquis Sprull, Dyshawn Davis. All have talent and are good decent players for a LB core.
CBs- C+: Keon Lyn(before season ending injury) R'shard Anderson, Brandon Reddish, Julian Whigham. They aren't that bad I think our scheme really hurts them. Reddish and Lyn could play m2m but we always play soft zone and that made completions way to easily.
S- B- : Durrel Eskridge, Ritchy Desir, Jeremi Wilkes, Wayne Morgan. This group has talent and just needs game reps to show it.
Overall Defense talent 2.67 GPA
What this shows me is we have decent overall talent on this team, but we need to UPGRADE QB, WR, DE and we can improve. I also look at this and realize the D-Coordinator sucks because outside of DE we have defensive talent.
