Syracuse University says it will build connection between Carrier Dome and Barnes Center

Wasn't that where the problem was before the Clemson game? Everyone coming in from the Quad 10 minutes before kickoff.

yes, entering the dome it’s congested. The quad, the student entry, the bus drop offs, Marshall square area, etc. but during the game and halftime, it’s not as bad as other areas especially b-ball.

So it sounds like the new concourse will probably extend into the area between the stadium and the Barnes Center. Not sure if the new restrooms and food options will cut into the new triple the size concourse. I hope not but suspect this is what will happen. If they add more space along that eastern border for food and rest room options, it would be a lot better. Although if they do that, opening up the area to the sun using glass or ETFE would not make sense, which is unfortunate.
I don't think direct sunlight is too much of a problem in that alley between the two buildings.

There are no restrooms behind the end zone sections and little in the way of food options. Adding these would be great, but the side that needs them even worse is the western concourse.
Which is why I think something will eventually be done on the west wing to balance things out. As I said in another thread, they've already spent a good chunk of change to level that side for the crane pads. That could almost be considered a down payment on a future construction site.

The concourses are far above where the crane pad is. That is even below the level of the field and the locker rooms.

But I agree, expanding the concourse to the west in inevitable. That side of the building will let in a lot more light for day games and because it is the side where basketball is played, adding bathrooms, more space and food options will really make a difference in the fan game day experience. I think the only thing holding them back from doing this earlier was the air supported roof.

This will also be an opportunity to expand the locker rooms, and add more space to the facility for press conferences, more room for the media, etc, They will probably build a much larger entrance to the facility as well, which will facilitate hosting big concerts and other events down the road.

Was just told that they expect that there will be additional food options and restrooms that aren’t necessarily in the Barnes center. Now I’m thinking maybe a food court type thing? Just spit balling now.
Just hire the "It's a Utica Thing" State Fair Folks to put in their kiosk

Any thought to moving the Will Call window to the other side of the Dome ...to the quad side, where MOST fans actually enter in?

Had 10 other guys with me on Saturday and we had to send a delegation to the other side of the Dome to pick up tickets. I remember doing the same thing for basketball ...it's no where near where I think most people come in. In fact, just the opposite. It's like walking to the abandoned side of the Dome

they're trying to promote a wholesome, family atmosphere. What’s so upsetting about little house on the prairie values? Let’s hang Norman Rockwell while we’re at it.
Wholesome families drink milk. When will I be able to get a white milk for my kid at the Dome?

I think this is an interesting question.

The main gate for Archbold was on Irving. The ticket office and main entrance for the Dome is on Irving.

I believe that the vast majority of people who come to the Dome park in the lots west of the Dome and enter from the west side of the Dome.

The only things that give me pause at all regarding whether the quad side gets more traffic are 1) for football, the emphasis the SUAD has put on partying on the Quad, which has definitely increased traffic going from the Quad to the stadium and 2) a recent statement from Sala that the west concourse gets the most traffic.

I think anything Sala says has to be taken with a grain of salt, but maybe the SUAD has done traffic surveys and maybe more people do come in from that side now, for football games only.

For basketball or lacrosse, there is no way this could ever be the case.

Maybe meet us halfway then? Put the Will Call window on North or South side of the building and prevent people coming from west or quad from walking all the way around the Dome

But it's a pretty rendering. I told someone that I wouldn't mind seeing similar signage like that used to cover the structural crossbars that were installed to support the load of the new roof.
The rendering is from the framework document and is more suggestion than design.

So, could this rendering that was leaked awhile ago be the ultimate end goal of what they're trying to create here? (minus the roof obviously). And at the end of that article it said this "gift comes just days before plans to officially launch the largest fundraising campaign in the school’s history". Fundraiser for what? This project or the football operations center?
This isn’t a leak. It’s from the Campus Framework. It’s a master planner’s suggestion, not a design. It was predicated on the development of all the west campus parking into student life facilities and dormitories

If they do get rid of all those parking lots west of the stadium, you can bet the ticket offices and will call will move to eastern side of the building. If that happens, most everyone will be coming from the Quad to the stadium.

In the drawing Jeremy hates so, it looks like a grand entrance for the building was added to the northeast corner of the stadium; the corner closest to the center of the Quad, because as NJCuse97 points out, the drawing is a look at a possible future.

I would say the odds are good the move will take place but it might take 20 or 30 years.

Was surprised a connection to Archbold wasn’t part of the original Dome reno plan and/or recently completed Archbold (Barnes) project. Since basketball is the other end thought we might lose seats and open it up. Also thought something like removing the 200s over there for a bigger bleacher to roll over for hoops could happen.

I think it was always low key part of the plan...my brothers office and several others are in the new Barnes center on that wall...which has no windows...which was a major concern but they were informed that the dome would at some point in the near future be connected to Barnes center

Ha! Doesn't do me any good. I'll be done going to games in 25 years, I suppose

Pretty sure I got chocolate milk for the kids.
