Syracuse's CJ Fair has workouts lined up with three NBA teams ...

Interesting that CJ's agent is Tobias Harris' father.

C.J. Fair- SF, Syracuse:

Fair had a great career at Syracuse, but what position does he play? He’s too slow to match other small forwards and he’s not big enough or strong enough to guard power forwards. He reminds me of Terrence Jones of the Houston Rockets. As a small-ball power forward, Fair could take advantage of bigger players with his quickness and driving ability. His defense is the greater area of concern. In the NBA, he won’t be able to hide in a 2-3 zone. Fair will have to prove himself, but having a player like Fair on the bench wouldn’t be a bad thing for Portland.

Why do people constantly question the ability of SU hoops players and their ability to defend when they haven't yet shown anyone how they will defend in the man to man system? Saying he won't be able to hide in the zone implies that he needed to be hidden in the zone.

For the simple reason that they haven't practiced m2m since high school. Almost every other prospect at least teams have seen m2m defense and have an idea if they can play or not. With our kids it's a complete unknown, so as such it's treated as a negative until proven otherwise. It just is what it is. It certainly hasn't stopped us from having high draft picks in the past and won't in the future.
