we are 61st in yards per play and 111th in YPG

we play slow to save the defense, reduce the number of plays and hope the outcome is closer to chance.

i think when your YPG is this bad, you are not able to keep the defense off the field. playing slow doesn't save your defense when your offense is all big chunks.

go fast and hope that helps your offense. we're 80th in TOP anyway

Millhouse - I'm beginning to see things your way of thinking. While I think we need a more experienced and better defense, I have been watching those B12 games lately and all I could think was how offensively minded those teams are. The AAC seems to be going in that direction as well with teams like Memphis.

To those teams, the best defense seems to be a great offense led by offensively minded coaches. Both Lester & Shafer were QBs in college and the ACC seems ripe for the picking to go for a quick strike offense that scores a lot of points. With Dungey & many of the weapons we have now why not go all out on the offense?

what part of sat? had anything to do with this? the game should have been over the first quarter and we were playing plenty fast then

Yep. Numbers bear that out. We need to air it out. Will Dungey make more mistakes? Yes. But maybe the happy side effect is that he learns quicker.

If we need to go no-huddle might as well take our lumps now.

Our 2 minute offense is pretty good.
