Sure. But I think we are that much better than them.
That is where we disagree. Rivals, 24-7, and Sc@ut disagree with you too. I know you'll point to superior coaching, but arguing Shafer is better than anyone at this point is a tough sell. Of course I want it to be true.

Anyone else kind of worried about usf? That kid Flowers has talent and is the kind of qb that usually kills us.

I'm not worried about them at all. They were picked to finish last in their division, and the schedule they play going into our game with them is no joke. They're going to get demolished over the next three games. They have @Florida State, @Maryland, and Memphis.

They only had one touchdown in their spring game.
Their experienced QB that most thought would start this year transferred out.
They lost all of their top 4 receivers from last year.
They have all new coordinators. Offense and Defense.

If recruiting were everything - they'd have more than 6 wins in the last two years in a lesser conference. In that time they've scored an average of 15 points a game.

They will be 1-3. We will be 3-1 in all likelihood.

Both teams are in the same ballpark as far as recruiting and coaching, which means USF is favored at home if the game is played tomorrow.

They've out recruited us and have a worse record in a lesser conference. Coaching has not been equal.

we know we didnt learn much from RI or what Wake did.

but BC was in a 10-3 vs maine in the 4th.

FSU outside of the RB is in a struggle vs Tx ST.

Pitt was in a dogfight. good they scored a ton bad they gave up a ton. anyone know why the backup QB played so much and how bad Connor was hurt?

Louisville played better as the game went on

the rest played solid games i thought,

so many top teams did not look good at all this week.

If you missed the thread Connor is done for the season.

Will be curious to see what USF do vs Memphis coming off a bye week to prepare. They could also give Maryland a game prior but tough to get a read on USF prior to that. Likewise, tough to gauge where we're at until after this weekends game and even CMU afterwards.

On the other hand, they have to play us after our most talented* quarterback has an entire year of experience.

I think if Dungy progresses at a conservative pace, those two variables result in a net win for us. But what do I know :noidea:

*Based on some peoples preliminary opinions, possibly including some of the staff

None of us know anything.

We just have opinions.

Who on our schedule aren't we "kind of worried about"?

Yeah - I'm kind of worried about half the schedule, and not worried at all by a few (LSU, FSU, Clemson). If we do anything in those games it'll be a bonus. But the rest? Could go either way.

ACC kind of the bed on opening weekend. 10-4 overall with the best win over Tulane. Lost all 4 games vs P5 conferences. Lots of work to do to gain some respect as a conference.

Both UNC and Louisville shoulda won those games. They shot themselves in the foot. UVA never had a chance. VT put up a respectable effort and who knows what would have happened if their QB didn't get injured.

Love the avatar. Clearly Jacob Hill has gone over to the dark side. That spin move behind the LOS was an ability that some would consider to be... unnatural.

Only UNC wasn't a TD underdog out of those 4 games. UCLA and Ohio State were never losing. Louisville and North Carolina killed themselves. ACC and Pac-12 were the big losers week 1.

B1G looked pretty bad outside of Ohio State.

Very true, but when your best looks that good, it takes some of the heat off of the others. Oregon-Mich St is a huge game in terms of conference perception. A Sparty win and suddenly the BiG looks a lot better.

I was going to say the BIG was probably the worst of week 1, but TheCusian beat me to it.

Wisconsin - Demolished
Nebraska - Lost at home to a backup QB
Michigan - Not a bad loss, but QB play will be suspect all year
Minnesota - Respectable loss.
Penn St - Bahahahahah. So much for up and coming James Franklin. Sackenberg just went down again.
Purdue - Got beat by Marshall by 10

Of course tOSU, and Northwestern picked up good wins, while the ACC didn't have any good wins.

Actually now that I look at it the PAC12 had a dreadful week outside of Utah.

I guess we have 13 more weeks to sort it all out :)

Our conferences top teams weren't involved in any of those games besides Ville. Tech was screwed when Brewer went down. Clemson, FSU, and GT will have chances later in the year to show out in their non-con rivalry games.
