Tecmo Super Bowl Fanstasy draft

Just got a correspondence from Joe Montana:

To the Derrick Thomas Corpses management team:

I am accustom to playing with elite wide receivers. Don't make me hold out of camp.

Joe

Okay, so he's a prima donna from Notre Dame, but he's got a point.

So Joe . . . have you met Drew Hill?

Umm, no. Not them.

The Derrick Thomas Corpses select Drew Hill (the football player) with their 3rd round pick.

You know we're serious tecmo fans when no one even questions why you've picked Drew Hill.

rolb.. no- just mean lb.. i typically like to use the ilb's more than olbs .. i missed the olb specification.. my bad on that

Oh yeah I know there are a few LB's left but ROLB is your kick blocker on special teams.

true - of course kicking is about lining it up within a half second too makes it really hard to block.. that said the elite rolbs can get there still 1/4 of the time

Wow, this is a very difficult decision for me . . . its sooo long before I pick again.

After thinking it over carefully, I am realizing that one of us is going to end up with a crap running back relative to the rest of the teams. In my opinion 4 running backs are ahead of the rest, Anderson, Sanders, Jackson, and Thomas, they have all been picked. I don't necessarily need a top RB, but I don't want a noticeably weak one either.

I'm going to have to take a big risk here. I remember Marion Butts as a great RB. I am 90% sure he has 63 speed, but there is a nagging doubt in my mind telling me he might have 56 speed. If he has 56 speed I just wasted a very important draft pick. If he has 63 then I think this is right choice. Either way its time to make the leap . . .

With their 4th pick the Derrick Thomas Corpses select the guy with the most sophomoric/coolest name in Tecmo Bowl, Marion Butts.

butts is damn good.. and underrated.. still 2nd tier .. but at the top of that tier- at the end of the day we all will be a balance of elite and 2nd tier talents with a couple high level role players mixed in from the last round

But what's his speed man!!! There should be some kind of reveal after we pick to show us if we F'ed up or not. I'm regretting all the childhood hours not spent playing seasons with the San Diego Chargers. Why did I have to play outside so much!!!

ive been trying to think of a formula to compare teams besides just debate.. had a couple thoughts but will lay them out in a seperate thread before the end of the week.. going to shoot for coming up with a model to plug player rankings into once we decide upon a rankings site to use at the culmination of this awesome event..

ok so nesforever.com.. you can play the game online.. since we have not eliminated playing the game from legal actions you can see it there if you want .. i was double checking my earlier picks today .. i can honestly say i still stuck to my draft board from memory .

He's no QB Eagles or QB Bills but I am very happy to say...

Round 4 #27 DigaBills select QB Browns QB/Browns

I know there aren't too many teams that need a QB left, but I feel like there is a large drop off after Kosar. Que up weekend at Bernie's.

good pick- he was surprisingly decent if you had to run with him despite the ratings nice pick.. there is still one more decent qb out there though.. :)

To be honest, I am really surprised that guy has not been picked yet. I had him as the 4th ranked QB on my board.

After attempting to trade out of this pick. Alsacs is sticking to his strategy and the 2nd best WR is still on the board and selects Henry Ellard/WR Rams I now have the 2 best pass catching WRs in the game.

I mean this in the nicest way possible . . . damn you to hell! I wanted him, and rolled the dice that he might fall.

yeah for me it was personal choice and familiarity as i would grade him that high as well

i literally flipped a coin for rison vs ellard once drew was off the board.

I did the same. Do you go with the extra speed or the extra catching? If I remember correctly, Ellard has the same catching as Jerry Rice, so with me having Joe Montana as a QB, that was pretty tempting. In the end though I was always a big Oilers fan on the game and I remember how nasty Drew Hill was. I just couldn't pass him up.
