Teens beating up refs

Schools in general should have classes on how to lose. It's easy to see people winning...it's hard to lose at anything.
Nah, schools shouldn't have to teach every aspect of quality character. That's learned when observing good examples i.e. parents (or at least it should be). It also used to be something that sports taught. But of course when kids are taught that the way to win is to try to get away with as much as you can, that every call made against you is because the whole world is against you, and that your entire identity is wrapped up in how successful of an athlete you are, sportsmanship will be lost.

But not everyone plays sports. Some kids like math and science and never play organized sports. Humility is built into organized sports but not a ton of other areas. And not everyone has great examples to follow their leads. I don't think teaching kids how to lose is that far fetched when it comes to becoming a well rounded individual.

Also pretty hard to see...although unfortunately that sort of thing runs deep in society. About 10 years ago when I was 20 living in Eastwood I got jumped and had 4 kids snatch my gold chains/bracelet at knife point, right in front of the old 7/11 on James Street. Broad daylight while multiple customers walked out looked at us and just got in the car, nobody working inside lifted a finger and of course the SPD said because I was fighting back it wasn't a robbery so try again next time. It's a feeling that people generally have I think that someone else will step in and do the right thing. Unfortunately in my experience that's not the case.
I’m trying to think about this but where was the 7/11, I can’t picture it.

Two lots down from the palace theater. Halfway between James/Midler and James/Teall ave. Bet those kids pawned my stuff off the next day for scrap prices too what a shame.

Was that a 7/11 I remember it as the Wilson farms and then it was something after, was it 7/11?

I only remember it as a 7/11 unsure what it was before. But yeah broad daylight. Just had some good luck walking out of the gas station someone accidentally threw away some 20's, figured it was a good sign as I was about to head to turning stone for some blackjack but alas...30 steps later got robbed.

Humilty is built into all sorts of everyday things, it isn't limited to just organized sports. Sure, if a kid plays sports, it's one nice place to learn, but I really don't think saddeling schools with having to teach yet another character trait is realistic or effective. We're already expecting schools to do much more than they should have to.

Did you start carrying after that?

having reffed youth hockey believe me there is nothing more obnoxious than 2 parents in youth hockey team matching jackets. i can't speak for every referee but the volume of obscenity and vomitese i hear disinclines me to call any pop however egregious against their little angel. i might even trip him myself.
the purpose of these games is to learn to skate and play and have fun. not the final score. chillax tiger moms.

Nah I just moved back to the suburbs LOL. Not to say it couldn't happen away from the city obviously but I'm living closer to where I grew up in Liverpool. And on top of that I just don't wear multiple chains or bracelets...really don't wear any jewelry now. More a proxy of just getting older.
