If he stays I don't think it has any impact on the locker room. Teammates are probably rooting for him the get more. It helps establish the expected market.

Yeah, bowl games kind of get tacked on to the next year eligibility wise, right? I remember when we played transfers inna bowl game that had had to sit out a season. I think Trishton Jackson was one.

College sports are just weird now. I keep thinking about that 10 x 10 foot triple I lived in my freshman year at Day. (Which was just fine for this 18 year old).

In all seriousness, this just makes me appreciate McCord even more for taking less than he could’ve gotten elsewhere to help launch the Fran Brown Era. You’re not going to see many players of his stature do that going forward.

You would be, but you're not a modern college athlete. These guys know the game now. And you don't care so much what the backup QB thinks if the starter stays. What you care about are the other 10 starters he plays with. If they get paid, they don't care. If his negotiating leads to more booster investment that can get spread around, you love him for it.

Very well could improve since he was starting as a freshman but he was mid last year. I could be dead wrong but sometimes you can tell if it’s just being thrown into the fire or not having it. I lean towards the latter but they’re surrounded with studs and a great offensive mind/QB coach in Hepuel. I like getting them week 1
