Is that the story? Because it sounds like he asked for a raise, Tennessee said okay and then Tennessee wasn’t coming through with it fast enough. At least that’s what someone mentioned the other day.

I did say I didn’t agree with what he did. My comment was about everyone saying he isn’t worth the money.

I essentially have 2 points.

1- It only takes one team to see him at that type of value. And I doubt he went to them with that evaluation unless he heard behind the scenes another school would get close to that number.

2- just because he didn’t explode last year, he was still only a redshirt freshman getting his first real game experience. Not to mention he made the college football playoff. I think he is much better than people on this board are making him out to be.

It’s the story as far as I have seen. Didn’t see anything about him asking for a raise and Tennessee saying ok.

Trying to play one school against another at this point in the spring isn’t great.
It didn’t matter to Tennessee what some school may or may not have been willing to pay, they already had an agreement with him for the upcoming season.
I think people on the board think he hasn’t shown himself to be worth 4 million, regardless of what his potential may be. 2.something million is pretty darn good.

I don’t know how much you watch Ohio State football but Kyle McCord was pretty damn good with them.

The short version:

Oregon HC notified Tennessee that Nico' s family reached out to Oregon, teams are still in a no contact period as the portal is closed. Rumors are that USC and/or UCLA were interested, too. No SEC school can accept him or he must sit out a full season.

The extent of negotiations is not clear, what is clear is that Tennessee was not willing to meet an increase in an existing NIL agreement/contract. Nico informed Tennessee that he would file paperwork to enter the portal. Tennessee called his bluff.

Yes, I know there are work around to no contacts but if the family was sending out feelers, this probably violates the recruiting/portal rules. Regardless, if Nico told coaches he intended to enter the portal, Tennessee has every right to move on.

Sure, if he leaves people won't be happy, but I don't think that screws up the locker room. It just lowers the talent level.

Oh sure, I don’t think it screws up the locker room either, because be will be gone. My point was more he probably won’t have universal support from his old teammates for his actions.

Why is it that the SEC can implement a rule that says players can’t transfer to a team in conference or if they do they must sit out a year?
I guess my question is why doesn’t the NCAA just go back to the rule that says you must sit out if you transfer? Seems like that would help a lot with all this nonsense.

Not every kid on the team is the starting QB.

To your point though, these SEC teams aren't so flush with cash that they'll just over pay everyone.
