Tennessee Predictions...

Predictions are silly for a fan of a team. As a fan, you want your team to win and be the person predicting a win when everyone assumes a loss. As a fan trying to objective, you want to be the voice of reason cautioning against unrealistic expectations. Either way, it ends up being just trying to get out in front of ideas ("See, I was a true believer"... "See, I was a true realist"). I think we need to save our predictions for games not involving us. That being said, the prediction texts are funny. So carry on.

It's a board tradition that started over 15 years ago.

Agreed.

I could see us winning. I could see us getting blown out.

No idea what the hell to expect.
There's alot of credit being given to Tennessee's defense. It's going to be good but not unbeatable. I believe Tenn is really not going to gameplan against our offense much at all. All the silly comments about hiding our QB1 and 2 QB's playing need to get real. Tenn just does not care who is under center. They will just pack the box, shut down the run and bring pressure on Angeli every play. The plan is make an unproven QB beat them throwing the ball under pressure.

Fran and Nixon are 2 NFL quality coaches though. They know this is coming. I believe it's at least a small part of why Angeli won the gig. He is used to the pressure and stakes (at least more than Rickie) and will get the ball out quick and without picks even if we see alot of short passes and short incompletions. I'm expecting we only show a token run game but there won't be much there.

The key is just how good our OL and WR core is against this Tenn Defense. Can they give Angeli just an extra second here or there? Can the WR room get just that little separation or beat their man 1 on 1? I think they can.

We're sunk if we give up big plays to a Tenn Offense and we're sunk if we lose the turnover battle. Not even going to talk Special Teams cuz it still makes me throw up in my mouth a little just thinking about how much of a mess it still might be.

The homer in me says SU 31 - Tenn 28. The realist in me says Tenn 28 - SU 18. Alot needs to go right to win (which it can), but so much more can go wrong.

Great breakdown

Price Chopper 34
Peerless Price 33

Tennessee is objectively more talented than we are and probably wins this game 7 or 8 out of 10 times. But anything can happen in a one game scenario. We were more talented than Stanford and less talented than Miami last year. What makes me nervous is the first 5 minutes of the game, especially with that massive crowd disadvantage. We have to avoid any major mistakes that result in guys panicking or having to play catch up. No BS pick sixes like the beginning of the ND game a few years ago, or giving up a long pass play over the top. If we can get out of the first quarter unscathed I'll feel great.
