Thank God AJ Long got here for spring practice...

I have no idea how AJ will work out but I believe that in CFB a really good QB can transform a program for years. They are like magnets to players as well as QB's who want to take their place. If AJ has the goods his personality and cockiness may very well have that effect for us.

I also, think he is the kind of kid that will feed off of his own success and get better and better. Let's hope that Wake Forest is his beginning.

BTW he will get pushed by Wilson. Kimble and Hunt, which is good for him.

AJ's going to be fun to watch develop. There will be head scratching moments, but, I think he'll be very exciting to watch grow.

Accuracy in the pass game can make running much easier. If the defense has to stay honest with some looks they're getting it will open up running lanes, AJ's got plenty of speed to hit those lanes.

Actually, I was talking about them stopping the plays with Long running around out there, but yes, Hunt is very shifty. I just think Hunt seems at times too deliberate with his throws… like he's taking too long or thinking about it too much or something. Just too many of his throws seem telegraphed.

I believe that Long and Wilson have better mechanics/muscle memory than Hunt when they pass and both are more consistent. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't because of coaching in the areas they grew up.

And I'll be honest, I have to eat crow on this... When I saw AJ in Spring Practice, I just didn't see it. I saw enthusiasm and work ethic, I didn't see the ability or size I had hoped for.

Yes, it's only been one game. As a true Freshman he's already surpassed my thoughts/opinions, and I'm happy about that. But, it also reminds me of something my father always told me. The minute you think you know everything is the moment you better realize you know nothing.
Agreed and save me a wing from the crow. I wasn't impressed with Long in the spring but last week brought a needed smile. As the original poster mentioned, it's only one data point. I just want to see progression of the young man as the leader of our team. I just hope it translates to a turn around.

Love the tattoo on the arm.

Out of curiosity, can NY kids do this if they are in honors/accelerated classes and with regents?
I would think so. It was 20 years ago, but some kids in my graduating class decided to graduate a semester early.

Hunt wasn't fast but strong as you say and strangely elusive. I want AJ to be smart when he runs and run with a purpose. If (and I do believe he will) keep his head up while scrambling we could have some pretty sweet things happen offensively...that is if the receivers run the routes correctly instead of blocking.
What I like about his running, at least from the FSU game, is that he was able to keep passing plays alive with his legs, and he was fast enough to elude their pass rushers, so that should say something.
