because they have made an otherwise boring season interesting on their quest for 40-0. I know part of the boredom for me is SU's situation but the quality of play overall is down this year and there are just not that many compelling story lines. The NCAA tournament usually delivers one way or the other but having UK undefeated heading in will guarantee some kind of drama.

How can you root for a crooked coach and university like them?? They are one of the things that is wrong with college b-ball.

Where in my post did I say I root for them? I just said they make a dull season more interesting.

My bad, but the last thing I want to see is for them to get undefeated. They are frauds like the coach.

What did the kids do wrong?

They need to go down to a 16 seed...I'll be rooting for teams like Virginia and Gonzaga and yes even the Nova's Duke and 'Ville...all 5 of those teams , and I qualify , when they are "on" can beat UK. Add Wiscy and Zona to that list...I'm not mailing the title to Kentucky and I agree with the OP's premise, that will add drama, but just only a bit more than if they we 28-3 you know?

They play for UK.

After reading the NCAA report, I think Syracuse fans would be wise to tone down the finger pointing at other schools. The everybody cheats defense and the why don't you look at UK arguments hint at desperation and deflection on our part. We got nailed - we should just focus on the appeal process and worry about our own issues.

Yep basically , they all do it, it was our turn. Correct and move on. The gloating in peak years does come with a price.

I've never reconciled how they get the cream of the crop when their legacy is 80% Adolph Rupp. How that does not hurt recruiting amazes me.

How does Alabama have the best football recruiting class every year? In some ways I think the south has made more strides on racism than the north. I don't want to stir up a sheet storm but I can name a few sections of the northeast that are not exactly known for racial tolerance.

That makes me hate UK even more. We get nailed for some minor ish meanwhile we know UK is bending the rules to the point of breaking and they are hailed as the dream team.

Last time I looked, SU is the school on probation. Kentucky's looking pretty good right now, both on the court and in there eyes of the NCAA.

What rules are they bending?

Are you serious, or is this tongue in cheek? Hard to tell on the internet. If not before, certainly now, Syracuse is considered a cheating program that commits academic fraud, and pays off its players through boosters and sham jobs. I am a forty year long Syracuse fan, I love the Orange and while in my heart I 'feel' like these matters were probably more like technical violations, or violations of omission- i.e. lack of oversight, treating kids like men, expecting boosters to behave themselves etc, rather than artifacts of a program actively and pervasively engaged in surreptitious efforts to buy recruits and cover sins of absentee student-athletes, in the worlds eyes we are as dirty as they come.

This investigation was a travesty in that it was eight years, and the NCAA is as hypocritical an organization as one could ever have the misfortune of running up against. Regardless, we now wear a scarlet letter.

Just when you thought a bad year couldn't get any worse. This is the worst of the 40 years I have been following Syracuse. Can anybody come up with a worse stretch, or a worse year?

Closing thought- could you imagine if they had vacated the 2003 National Championship. I think Boeheim would have committed suicide.

Yeah for real...I can't believe we're talking about other schools being "crooked"... do you have any idea what other fan bases think of Syracuse right now?

bags of cash assuage most concerns

Kentucky plays tough defense, they pass the ball well, they are able to make all those top recruits work as a team instead of trying to showcase their individual talent. Then they get drafted highly and make millions in the NBA. Seems like a pretty sweet setup they have going.

I don't doubt that they are crooked, but I think it's the rules that are wrong
