Thank God for Kentucky...

Calipari and UK are probably the most watched and policed program out there. We should stop hating and talking s+£t, especially now. Towns and those guys and even Anthony Davis all seem like great kids and quite articulate kids as well. It is getting old the hate for them. Cal is just taking advantage of he system.

UK hired the former NCAA compliance queen. They have the person who can not only tell them how to cheat but where to hide the bodies. The assumption they are somehow clean because there is no spotlight or media on them for doing so is laughable. And if the subjective report by the NCAA tells you Syracuse is a cheating institution then I have got news for you.. every single collegiate athletics program could be labeled the same. I will never have one ounce of respect for calipari or UK. It is not the kids fault by any means nor should they have fingers pointed at them for not turning down what is thrown at them. That said to hell with them and hope a 16 embarrasses them and the kids go on to have great professional success.

At least you and a some others get it.

crapipari has been in trouble everywhere he's been, to think he has turned over a new leaf makes people sound like uk fans and fools. Plus they play in a shitt conference. Going undefeated in your conference only means your conference sucks. People give syracuse crap about their non conference schedule, how about we give uk crap for their in conference schedule?

All NCAA opinions aside, UK is clearly the best team in the country and has a great shot at going 40-0, depending on who they match up against in the tourney. I'll be rooting against them, but if they have to go through Wisky, UVA, and Duke and are able to do it, then they deserve the spotlight and credit.

I'm going to make a statement, and it may sound crazy. I don't think Calipari cheats anymore. I think he did, heck it was proven at UMass and Memphis.. But at this point, Kentucky is just a well-oiled machine. I think he is a great snake oil salesman. But now, he's just playing within the rules of the ncaa.

Don't get me wrong I despise everything that is John Calipari, and I'm disappointed that Boeheim even took a call from Calipari thinking Boeheim would give him tips on the zone (read that in Bleeding Orange)

I will be rooting for UK to lose. But I really don't think Calipari cheats, anymore.

Now the boosters. ..who knows Ashley Judd is still pretty cute.

Never gonna get very far pointing to someone else and saying that they break the rules, too.

That is far from what I am saying. It is a supplemental fact. The point here is that if we failed it is in not having a system setup like UK to conceal the cheating excessively. If you think they are clean you are just wrong. I will put any wager on it. So those screaming in anger of SU's lack of accountability or being a cheater need to realize that your anger is better served to be towards the fact we self reported. If anything I am glad to see after 10 years and offering a library of details, this is all they could find. And with that it was clear we do have a program that values doing the right thing. Even if we didnt execute on it perfectly there was accountability for it and efforts taken to improve. Penn st locked everything up tight. UNC had for a while just the same. With the history of Adolph Rupp, the tubby smith firing, the gillespie ordeal and now hiring a guy who has clearly played outside the rules in the past do you think there was not a reason they brought in a former ncaa compliance guru? I am sure she has had tons of things removed from the books or hidden with procedures in place to handle every potential violation. When Kanter got ruled ineligible if the ncaa came sweeping in then it could have been an interesting outcome.

So go ahead and call me a hater or in denial but i say you have to be in your own world to think UK is somehow not cheating excessively. The signs are there.

Hard to follow this logic - we just need to be smarter when we cheat?

Knock off the PSU comparison as its not valid. Also, tired of the Adolph Rupp crap too as the dude was born 114 years ago and died in JB's 2nd year as HC.

BBN fans are total ********. Saw it first hand at the Final Four in New Orleans.

The people that think Kentucky is cheating continue to amaze me. They don't have to cheat. It's a perpetual motion machine at this point.

I don't think he ever really ever cheated. The closest I'd say he's ever gotten was the Rose thing. Saying that though, I will say that Calipari is like an improved, second generation Boeheim in his attitude towards being coach. Which, mainly, is the mantra of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. People constantly talk about how Boeheim focuses on coaching and running the team, not worrying about knowing everything that's going on because he's here to coach and his players are adults and it's not his job to ensure compliance? Well, that's Calipari. He does not give a single **** if agents or people like World Wide Wes are around his team. That's the compliance departments job. It wasn't his job to babysit Camby and keep him from taking money. It wasn't his job to make sure that Derrick Rose' brother wasn't given free travel to games. And it's not his job now to pay attention to whatever Kentucky players are doing.

Along with that, you want to know why Kentucky gets super recruits year in year out? It has nothing to do with cheating. It has to do with http://larrybrownsports.com/college-basketball/kentuckys-housing-chef-flat-screens/153247 things like that.

As far as I am concerned, Calipari is the worse coach in the country. How he has not won the championship every year is beyond me. He has had the #1 recruiting class like 8 of the last 10 years (a guess, I didn't look) and has underachieved almost every year. They say he puts talent in the NBA, the players themselves could have gone anywhere and they would have been playing in the NBA. For those of you who don't think that every school cheats you are living in a fantasy. The difference is that when we noticed our transgressions we self-reported and put actions in place to stop them from happening again; and still got hammered. I would be willing to bet that if anyone actually investigated Kentucky they would find the same things and a lot more in their dealings with World Wide Wes. It is not a coincidence that almost every Kentucky player gets a shoe deal when they leave college. As far as I am concerned, Kentucky is everything that is wrong with college basketball. I hope they get beat by a 16 seed this year.

I have to hand it to you BPO for once again getting the SU fans on this forum to dislike you even more. At this point, if there were a dislike button I believe you would be leading. Definitely time to turn in your "orange" card.

How does Alabama have the best football recruiting class every year? In some ways I think the south has made more strides on racism than the north. I don't want to stir up a sheet storm but I can name a few sections of the northeast that are not exactly known for racial tolerance.
Other than Boston...name a few.

Lol ok then. If your armchair says UK is a clean program and SU a dirty one and thats your story then so be it. Carry on with your heads in the sand and enjoy UK's continued "Honestly earned" dominance.

Y'all really don't know how this whole "cheating thing" works, do you?

If you're Kentucky,

You:
  • Enroll incoming MBBall Freshman in "joke" summer classes before the rest of their freshman peers ever step foot on campus, to get their GPA up and running and to ensure that they'll be eligible for the start of basketball season. Many of these classes are online affairs that are catered/tailored to the student athlete re: content, style, etc.
  • You have Basketball "dorms" that are only for basketball players only. But wait, I hear some of you say, that's against NCAA rules to have "athlete" only dorms. Well, when the "dorm" where all the Kentucky basketball players are also has student tutors living with them in the dorms, and it's literally next door to their practice facility/academic support services, how's that not "bending the rules?". http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab...s-where-kentucky-houses-183025487--ncaab.html
  • Then all you have to do is get these students to pass their fall classes, considering if they're going to Kentucky, they're likely one and done anyway. So again, enroll them in some "joke online" courses, where they won't be stretched too thin at the start of the basketball season, and they can take classes while on the road for tournaments, etc.

Some of you really have no clue at the stuff Kentucky has been doing. It's not surprise they get the best recruiting classes year after year. Tell me again how this isn't "cheating"?

Seriously. Morons that think that Kentucky and Coach Cal are running a clean program have NO clue about what really happens in college sports.

They need to go down to a 16 seed...I'll be rooting for teams like Virginia and Gonzaga and yes even the Nova's Duke and 'Ville...all 5 of those teams , and I qualify , when they are "on" can beat UK. Add Wiscy and Zona to that list...I'm not mailing the title to Kentucky and I agree with the OP's premise, that will add drama, but just only a bit more than if they we 28-3 you know?
I think that Wisconsin will beat them if they meet in the Elite Eight.

Another yahoo that doesn't know how to read. All I said was that UK's quest for an undefeated season makes the NCAA Tourney more interesting. Why such venom for that? And you know you really hurt my feelings cuz I wake up every day worrying whether people on this board, that I've never met in my life, like me. Btw Cal has only been at UK for 6 years not 10. And if you think he is a lousy coach then you know even less than I thought you did.

Where did I say that UK doesn't cheat? I'll wait patiently for your answer.

Ever been to the Howard Beach section of Queens? How about South Philly?
So your referencing ethnic pockets of cities, as opposed to the lower half of the Country? I just want to make sure that is your argument...

Agree completely. The fact that he has not won every single year is a joke really. None of those players need him OR Kentucky to go pro.

Speaking of not reading, that is why I said it was a guess, I didn't look it up. I was making a point that almost every year he has been at Kentucky (thanks for letting me know how many years though) he has had the #1 recruiting class, with almost can't miss NBA players. The venom was a combination of this thread and your other post on Boeheim. It seems like you have nothing but negativity towards SU but can't wait to follow KU and their quest for perfection.

I like you more than I used to back in the day--about three board incarnations ago--when we used to cross swords often. But then, I'm older and, I hope, wiser now; and you probably are, too.
