Should be possible.. We play inside... and now we have money. SPEND THAT SHITT AND GET ME a staff that can compete. If shafer fails that is.Will football ever make it's way back or is that done? Seems to me that's done. Just a guess on my part.
JB is the difference maker.I rarely go over to the football board, but in looking at it today, I was amazed.
While we have fans that are a little overly optimistic about our team/players on this board, there are posters on the football board that are simply delusional. One person even believes that Syracuse will beat Clemson!
I sensed a feeling of desperation that I hope we never have here.
Some even believe that G has no chance to start at 2 first game.I rarely go over to the football board, but in looking at it today, I was amazed.

Its pulse is fading. Outside of the people on this board, and those who live in western NY, no one cares about SU football. I know people on this board do not want to hear it (why I rarely go to the football board) but Syracuse football today is irrelevant.
An interesting comparison made by my dad the other day was that Syracuse is the college football equivalent of Kodak. They both were titans in their day producing the best of the best. Kodachrome and cameras for Kodak, all americans and hall of famers for syracuse. But then each became old and hit hard times. Kodak refused to go digital and went bankrupt, Syracuse decided to let go of PP and hire GRob, basically bankrupting the program. Now both face an uphill battle simply for relevancy. Not superiority...relevancy.
Yes, we've had a little success these past few years. But in my heart of hearts, I believe that lower bowl games will be the absolute ceiling for SU football for years to come. We are a private school situated in a snowy, cold, rust belt town. We cannot get the 4 or 5 star recruits. We do not have the necessary facilities to compete with the big dogs. No quality coach will see this job as more than a stepping stone.
Again, just my opinion, but I think it will take a small miracle to elevate Syracuse to a level of respectability among your average college football fan.
I hope that this entire post gets proved wrong.
I guess I will be the one to take the bait and will respectfully disagree and am on board that hopes your post is proved wrong. You make some valid points...all of you here do, but i remember people on these boards saying the same thing last year when we lost to Minnesota (yes I know this year is different). Look, football is not in the category of the SEC. Never will be, I get it. But I do remember that as a kid in the late 70s and 80s we were horrible. GRob horrible. "Sack Mac Pack", anyone??? We got out of that and had a nice run from 87-01. In those years we were a solid Top 15-35 program. We beat teams like Penn St, Ohio St, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Texas, Michigan, Wisconsin, Clemson, etc. That in retrospect is where I think we need to be and there is no reason it cant be done. Many of you younger guys wouldnt believe this but to me seeing Oregon, TCU, K State, NW, Baylor, Stanford in the Top 25 is crazy. These teams were irrelevant then. So what that tells me is that if they can rise from the depths why cant we? No, we dont have Nike $$ and wont be where Oregon is, but who will? But we sure as hell can be what NW has become. No doubt about it. And no matter what, I will be a fan of the hoops and football programs (along with all the other sports) because I am a Syracuse fan...period.

Always support the Cuse, but do it realistically. Understand the program in football is down and don't expect miracles, but do expect players to do their best. Coaching, as Flacusian said, may or may not be getting the job done, but give it a chance.Boyeeee, beautiful!
Agree with Flacusian. Always support the Cuse.
Thank God for Syracuse basketball AND Syracuse football. Central New Yorkers don't know how good they have it having the 5th and 15th winningest programs in their respective sports history in their backyard.

Great post, people who are basketball only fans think that Syracuse football is like a 3rd world country.
Just remember, football runs the $$ ship these days. I'd suggest you get on board sooner than later.
We just made it to 2 bowls (both wins) in the last 3 seasons and beat up on some really good teams on the way.
Things are not NEARLY as bad as some make it out to be.
I love both Syracuse basketball and football. I wish some more would do the same.
