You made the game fun to watch. Things may not have turned out as we had hoped but the growth you showed from last yeat to this has to be harolded. It could not have been easy for a young man to be so far from home and finding he had to work extra hard to make big changes in his life. You were on the right road and I hope that things work our well for you. While unlikely, I would be a pleasure to see you again in an Orange uniform. Best of luck.

oh my.
Not sure what you meant, but I felt that EVERY player on this years team should be thanked for the fine season they had. It didn't end the way many (all) of the fans wanted but they did succeed in so many ways, they deserved our thanks.

JMO, but maybe the thank yous to everyone but the departing seniors and Dion could've been in a separate thread.

I don't think that Fab should be thanked by anyone - he let his teammates, coaches and the University down. His effect upon the APR remains to be seen, so maybe the "thank yous" to him are a bit premature. I honestly wonder if he spent more time studying than he did at Chuck's.

Thank's Fab for not making the necessary commitment for your team. Thanks for letting the team down multiple times in the same season. Thanks for leaving us high and dry when we needed you most. Thanks for the eventual hit our school will take to the APR. Thanks for the one year tournament suspension this will invariably lead to.

Thanks for buying a plane ticket and just leaving for South Florida. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Thanks Fab for single handling blowing our chances at a National Championship. It doesnt take a genius to realize that last night's result would of been alot different with him on the floor.

Fab didn't finish. Therefore, he shouldn't be considered "on this year's team."

You can thank anything or anyone you want, go nuts, but I don't think I'm alone in saying Fab...and he's not worthy of the same recognition as the members of the team who put their teammates over themselves by doing what they needed to do to keep playing.

Thank him for 2 of our 3 losses. Also possibly for contributing to an APR that may keep us out of an upcoming tournament. I would reserve my thanks to Fab, until we see how things play out.

Should we be looking forward to the "Thank you Mookie" thread soon?...

I can admire Fab's improvement and even wish him the best in the future but I cannot and will not thank him for anything. To thank him would be to condone his failure to the players on and the coaches of this team as well as to all SU fans. He was dedicated to his own agenda. I won't judge him for that but I will not thank him either.

I'm at peace with Fab. Was one of my favorites these past two years, had an infectious and fun personality, was always good with the fans, and generally had fun with life, which, ironically, may have led to his downfall at SU. But I'm not holding it against him. The guy was in a different country, speaking his 3rd language, enrolled in an institute of higher learning here when who knows what kind of academic background he was provided in Brazil and Florida before coming to Syracuse? I'm certainly not gonna get angry at him...especially when the basketball team has such resources and people willing to volunteer their time to help ensure these kids are doing what they are supposed to off the court, while they make sure they are prepared on it (while also doing the other things asked of such high profile athletes like bball players at cuse...weightlifting, mandatory NCAA training & compliance classes, traveling involved with the games, going to different schools in the area to help give back to community, not to mention actual time and energy spent practicing, eating healthy, hosting potential recruits, ect. On top of all the "normal" responsibilities that come along with being a bball player at Cuse, add the Bernie scandle to the mix, which brought a circus-like atmosphere on campus with reporters everywhere, wanting quotes from the players...I'm sure the team had meetings about it where they were briefed on what to say & not to say about it, ect. Just alot of things going on in these athletes lives and alot of demands on their time. For those who have never participated in a college sports program while attending classes, I'd say to walk a mile in their shoes before being so quick to disparage. Def not easy, I know from experience, and that's on a lower level college sports team.)

I'll always be grateful for the good memories of this year, including those provided by Fab, like eating Herb Pope's lunch (Pope came into the game averaging a double-double) en route to setting the all time single game block record of 10 blocks...achieved in only 25 minutes of playing time no less! I'll always remember Fab nearly taking off from the foul line to dunk against Louisville. Nearly putting up a triple-double against Pittsburgh with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks in only 29 minutes. Numerous alley-opp finishes, fast break outlet passes, and yes, even those silly mental mistakes and obvious goaltends he was prone to. (The goaltends never really bothered me for some reason...I still feel like it get's into an opponents head that the shot was blocked, even if the two points were given.) And of course, being selected Big East Defensive Player of the Year. Also, his transformation from 2010 to 2011 Fab was incredible...and I've already seen that used in different recruiting arguments as a talking point of how Syracuse was able to develop Fab to get him to that point, considering how limited he was as a Freshman.

And my hope is that Fab will have a successful Pro career, with the possibility of him donating back to the university. Good luck and thanks from this fan, Fab.

Considering his off-season issues, he owed the University his best in all regards. We did not get that. No thanks for Fab. Well, I guess he got us the #1 seed which got us to the Elite 8 for that I'll wish you well in the future.

This team was very special and I enjoyed watching them very much. However, I have sworn never to utter the name of whatshisname again.

Thanks for nothing, whatshisname.

Sorry - for me, Fab will be the 'gift' that keeps on giving. Last year, he really gave us nothing. This year, he made the team have to adjust to his presence/absence/presence/absence. And now, unless he has maintained a classroom presence and is in good standing (which I doubt very much), he will have a negative impact on our APR - possibly helping to contribute to a post-season ban. 'Family' doesn't treat family like that. Or at least, they shouldn't. See ya.

Actually I was going to do one for Mookie too. He left the team for personal reason and while he was on the team he was the biggest cheerleader on the bench. If the guy truely hated SU or his teammated he would not have returned to SU this year or been as big a cheerleader as he was. In fact, didn't somebody have to replace somepart of his introduction routine after he left? If his teammates go that far, it shows me that he was appericated and missed.

And that was the feeling I was trying to convey. These young men have to go through a lot to entertain us and deserve our apperication whent hey do. If they fall short we should not bastphemy them for not living up to OUR expectations especially when we do not know the entire story.

He's lucky his "off-season issues" don't have him behind bars.

A lot of the people here are exceptionally immature. These are kids and kids screw up. In fact these kids are put under the kind of pressure that 99.9% of the people on this message board have never experienced. I wish Fab was more mature and had his priorities in order. But he was a Sophomore in college. A Sophomore. You know how many classes I skipped my Sophomore year and didn't have to play basketball for a top 5 D-1 program. He's a victim of the system. A system that drains every ounce of cash the kids can make them and then in order to keep them unpaid, has "rules" about how they should do in their classes.

If you want to root for a team that plays in such a corrupt system, then you're going to have to deal with this crap sometimes. This is Fab's life, not yours. If you're precious feelings can't handle or forgive a kid for what has gone down the last few months then maybe college sports are not for you.

Fab I wish you were more mature at this stage in your life but I think I understand what you went through and I even think YOU were the one that was screwed (by the system), but that's a different story. But for the fans on this message board, grow the up, none of you have my pity if you can't let a grudge go on a 19 year old kid.

So, I should sack up and slap a kid on the back and shed a tear for someone who screwed up and hurt the team I live and die for? Ooooooookay.

And a victim of the system? BS. He threw away an opportunity - a big one. Will he survive? Sure. You can't teach height. Do I have to mourn his loss and feel good about how he affected the team? No. No I don't.
