Thanks for coming Melo

Wish he'd suited up. Would have been awesome if he shed his street clothes and Clark Kent'ed it and been suited up underneath. Loved seeing the "legends".

Dion looked (as Bees had posted previously) thin, fast and really in great shape. As they announced the team all I could think of was how unbelievably deep we are. Wow! We really have so much talent. Hope the bigs mature quickly.

Sound system at times was horrible. They had some Russian acrobat team that was excellent. The 3 point shot contest - 3 members of the boys team against 3 of the girls was very close - boys 36 to 33.Sorry but Meek Mill - couldn't hear a word that was said but sure felt the bass. Fun event and there had to be 20k+ there. Thank you Syracusian and Orangeyes.

Agree 100%. This about it--our backcourt rotation features three experienced players and two multi-year starters. It also includes a McDonald's all american and a kid that GMac suggested was the best shooter he'd ever seen. To say nothing of fourth year player Mookie Jones. Loaded.

Frontcourt consists of two experienced bigs, both of whom started and were thrown to the wolves and performed intermittently well at various times. An all league caliber 3 [if he steps it up], and two versatile / multitalented forwards [Fair / Southerland] who garnered extensive playing time last season. They add a McDonald's AA big in Rakeem Christmas to contend. Again, loaded.

There are some question marks--namely, how will they rebound, who will provide low post scoring, etc.--but I don't remember a team as deep and talented, 1-12, ever lacing 'em up for SU.

Great Seeing Melo there I agree.. he could have copped out- and interacting with everybody.. so good to see the comraderie amongst all the pros/vets.. only wish that the youthful crowd were a bit better versed in the who's who of alumni to give it up a little louder for some of the 70s , 80s , 90s stars.

J-Dub can still ball without a doubt... such memories watching Z flip it around out there as well.

Melo really did look active.. actually impressive for a game where a big guy really doesnt mean much since there is little D - if he can really work on that Tim Duncan jumper and using that to fake into taking it to the basket he could be really effective on offense . Christmas sure can get up high.. almost as high as Baye. Baye could really be a monster on the boards.. he looks a bit stronger and really seems to get after it. Hes kong with better physical gifts.

MCW is smooth, Triche looks a bit faster.. that Cooney kid has a pretty stroke. Dion looks explosive. Loved the fall away jumper from CJ.. would be nice to see more of that. Not much you could take away that was a negative tonight.. other than if you had to watch it on ESPN 3 and couldnt be there live.. miss the hill like crazy.

Scoop and K-Jo.. you know what your getting..

Finally.. really hope things work out better for Jonny and Andy. Donte hasnt changed.. all show until there is a defender in his way... still the kid loves cuse... wish he had stayed around a tad longer. Going to be such a fun year.. honestly think UConn will not be all that without Kemba.. Napier is good.. but Kemba was a beast. I think we duke it out with Pitt.. but have the horses to outpull them this year..

Lamb is the UConn guy who will step in for Kemba. He's going to be a beast this year. They're going to be good, but how do they replace a guy who put them on his back for 11 games? As much as I dislike UConn, they had a pretty ridiculous ride thanks to Kemba.

And just about Melo - other than the Dome and JB, he is the greatest thing to ever happen to Syracuse basketball. I'd put him at number 1, but without JB and the Dome, there's no Melo.

I agree- Lamb is going to be a beast.. but as he now becomes the main guy.. how effective will he be with the ball in his hands. I think there will be some serious adjustment on his part. I just dont see him or Napier carrying Uconn from the guard position.. good but not great.

Great point. Kind of like what with KJ last year. Lamb just reminds me of the prototypical UConn wing.

Spot on about the sound system, Cherie. The speaker set up was awful and made it virtually impossible to hear anything clearly. We had a bank of speakers about 30 yards in front of us, facing away, and could not understand a word of what being said. The microphone the barker was using sucked. You could hear him clearly because he had the mic right up to his mouth, but when he held it up to the players and JB and held it 6 inches from their faces, you could not hear them talking. I thought the horrid sound set up was the only major flaw of the evening.

It was cool to see Melo there. He could have "big time'd" us and chosen not to show up, but he didn't. He gets big time props from me for actually making the trip from NYC.
thrilled to see him, but i was glad he didn't play. 65 mil on the line, during a lock out, last thing i need in my life is to see carmelo break an ankle.

As the time wound off the clock and the game was within a basket I thought for sure they were setting up for him to shed the street clothes and rush the court to take the final shot.
