The ACC

We are getting the Maryland treatment. When we joined the ACC, I remember Maryland fans talking about this exact officiating issue.
Look, I’m ok with that but how long do you need to pay your dues when you come to a league? It’s been like 10 years now.

That is all
Syracuse did not do everything it should have to win this game.

Blaming refs is such loser talk. Holding can be called in every play. This was a hold, but cannot rely on things you cannot control. Period.

Reliance is different than holding them accountable. When you pop on the post game and a 1-4 FSU team is celebrated for a home win aided by beneficial calls like they were the only team on the field there is a sobering reality that we have a higher hurdle to jump here.

Is it honestly always on us to climb over a taller hurdle to be successful than the league stalwarts and just suck it up?

This is far more than about officiating. It's about respect as a longstanding P5 football program. Who cares what our records have been? We are a part of this conference as much as anyone else.

You can both make the case we should have done better and that once again were subjected to poor officiating that directly impacted our chances of winning the game.

Your record is what it is. Period. There are no asterisks.

We lost.

Complaining about the refs is so futile. Especially when Babers had so many mistakes.

Helpful?

Yep- you didn't get what I was laying down as I figured. Fair enough.

Huh? Either you don't get my take or don't like it I guess.

More of “it doesn’t matter.”

The score is what is and the record is the result.

Didnt the title of this thread have a more colorful framing than it does now or…..was looking for that effin ACC thread and couldn’t find it. Thought it was the beer….

I would love to apply this logic in the corporate world. When one business partner directly and negatively impacts the financial success of another and gets the benefit of the employees of that business partner saying oh well... It is what it is- doesn't matter and no point in bothering with it. I'm sure the 10th time is the last time.

It's not that loose of analogy. Hold that partner accountable or simply swallow it. What is being said here is we shouldn't just swallow it. That doesn't stop the problems in our own house or ignore them. Neither should be excused.

“We” have zero control over Babers’ decision making.
You are right. Everyone is out to get us. Refs, weather, etc.

or

Discussing what Babers did or did not do is more impactful on the game than the refs, is something more productive.

How is it more productive? What would come of that discussion?

As someone in the corporate world, I think this remains weak.

Like saying “we made a great deal, but someone decided that this industry should be taxed higher.”

Yeah 20 plus yrs myself hence why the analogy.

IMO You aren't making your case with this example. It's not even close.

Let's just do this- you focus on your disgust with Babers and how his decisions didn't cut it. I'll join you there and then continue separately to discuss that officials are paid employees with a responsibility and job and when they fail to do it, they bear the responsibility of their actions. No different than a coach who loses another game. When those paid employees fail to do their job in many of the transactions they are paid for that we are part of, it is absolutely within reason to press on their employer to hold both the officials and that employer to address this issue.

It's cool- I'm getting off your lawn. Let's hope Dino can find 3 more wins.

We can all agree losing sucks at least.

My brother and I both yelled holding at the same time watching the play live… And it wasn't meaningless holding, it’s what let him escape. Awful by the refs but we mismanaged the clock on the drive before also
