They are ranked #41 nationally in this year's US News & World Report ranking, whereas Syracuse is #73. (Seton Hall, for the record, is #146).

Rutgers Law has fallen off the map, though, since I went there, and is now rated about on par with Syracuse Law, ranked outside the Top 100. Yikes.

Back in the 1990s, Rutgers was about on par with Fordham; better than St. John's, Seton Hall, Yeshiva, Brooklyn Law, but clearly below Columbia, NYU and Cornell. I mean, Ruth Bader Ginsberg had been on the faculty within the last 10 years, when I went there, before being appointed to the Federal Court.

Football? they may have invented it, but they certainly don't play it.

The Ivy League charges less, Syracuse is more.
But the Ivy League's tuition agreement seems to have been abandoned, based on what I saw online just now. Ivy's are maybe $5-10K less, all inclusive / on campus.

The B1G would counter with numbers 1 & 5. Though, playing three yards and a cloud of dust football should not give the team enough opportunities to rank so high; yet, Rutgers never fails to deliver in the most inappropriate manner.
 
Why The Sixers Shouldn't Take Either Rutgers Player At #3. Makes sense to me:

"I would not pick someone who played at Rutgers last season, which Harper and Bailey both did. I would not pick someone who was one of the two best players on a team that finished 15-17, that lost 12 of its 20 games in the Big Ten, and that failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. I would not presume or bet or even hope that one of the two best players on a team like that would turn out to be one of the two best players on an NBA team that had any chance of winning a championship or winning a division title or even making the playoffs."

"I would pick someone else because — with all of those caveats and all of that context and all of Harper’s and Bailey’s talent and potential — I cannot get past one nagging thought: If Harper and Bailey were truly outstanding players, if they were truly worth using such high picks on them, then Rutgers would have been better for their presence. If they were that good, the Scarlet Knights would not have been perhaps the most disappointing team in Division I basketball last season."

That's just a taste. But I agree.
