The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

This is the Rutgers dumpster fire thread, not the Cuse ex dumpster fire thread.

But I will still chime in on this anyway. No one can convince me that in Pasqualoni’s last year that he was not trying to get fired. Yes, the deck was stacked against him, but he made some truly bizarre coaching decisions all year long.

Hey DG used that for Times Square billboards and the tennis team, brilliant mind that guy!
Most of it went to the locking floor covers to put the basketball court on so we could have hardwood, the new turf for the Dome and outdoor practice fields, as I recall.

While its fun to poke fun at the ineptitude that has/is manifesting at our favorite punch-bag-of-a-program, part of me wonders about how the student-athletes, and even the coaches, feel about this. I have to believe that this performance is not their intention and I can't help but have some empathy for what those, under the seemingly poor administrative decisions, are being subjected to. These kids went to the program with hopes of success and empowering their future. I can't believe they went there to fail.

I know this post is not in the spirit of competition and poking fun at a competitor program (if you want to consider them as a competitor to our program), but maybe I'm at a point in life where I just have more empathy for these kids and how hard it can be to find success in this uber competitive field.

Blast away at me. Don't mean to be a buzz-kill in this thread so bring it on for posting this :)

Nothing particularly wrong in what you said, but that too is kinda the point of a thread such as this. If what you say is true, and what everyone else says about the ineptitude is ALSO true, then why do so many of those student athletes, with so much potential choose to sign on with them!? We are trying to get prospects to see the light. I can see doing it for PT and exposure, but if that was it, you’d think they’d have a new starting team every season. I live in NJ and actively try not to know about Rutgers, but they have been proven to have some good players. Most recent examples include our own Cinco Clark. Heck, even Coach Fran was there. That one was a prime example of getting exposure and moving on IMO. I struggle to feel bad for the rest, who not only chose to go there, but also choose to stay.

Everybody needs a safety school. ;)

Shady is a master BS artist, and I guess some people fall for it?

That said - the list of SUNJ DEcommits is actually quite impressive.
Saquan Barkley, for example.

And now with the transfer portal, guys like Cinco Clark came to their senses, transferred out, played for a good, relevant program, and then went on to the NFL.

Yeah, a culmination of things.

P had staff issues due to lack of funding from AD.

Those staff issues led to a poor relationship with the Leonard family, and Brian went to Rutgers as well as damaged relationships with strong HS programs in the northeast and NJ.

Then we lost Ray Rice and Courtney Greene to Rutgers with lack of P support and his eventual removal.

We also whiffed on the talent evaluation end with Cecil Howard and totally miss used Johnnie Morant, which rubbed a lot of NJ coaches wrong on how we handled his career here.

Then we truly buried ourselves and shot off 9 toes by hiring Greg.
Sorry to beat this horse, but I just found this article from 2023 and thought it would be good to put here based on this dialogue. It's free (or at least I assume it is if I can read it).

Between the hoops team embarrassment and their “darkhorse contender” football team going 7-6 even though they didn’t play any of the 4 playoff teams from the Big 10 nor the defending champs(who were mediocre but would have shut Rutgers out), it’s just one big HAHA!

And how bad of a coach is Locksley, recruiting at such a high level with the DMV at his disposal and no top 25 seasons, even taking into account playing in the Big 10 East for years
Crazy Northwestern has four

Warning: this is NSFW and quite gross.

I cannot think of a better description of Rutgers than what he did. Maybe Shitano will have his team do that when they come running out of the tunnel at SHI (t) Stadium
