How does SU have "bigger obstacles" in the ACC than say BC?

Neither school is a great geographic fit for Tobacco Road, or remotely in 'crootin' hotbeds -
but at least Syracuse doesn't have about a dozen other sports that matter more to the locals than college football, including a NFL team.

That said, BC has the advantages of a Catholic school pipeline (a quick, non-researched count suggests 26 players on their roster went to a Catholic HS) and NE Prep School pipeline (a quick, non-researched count suggests 17 players on their roster went to a Day / Prep school) that Cuse doesn't have.

Yes - for Catholic HS school kids, BC is the "safety school" for Notre Dame, so they get a lot of the kids who may not be quite good enough to be on the Irish's take list.

But - the points about zero local fan engagement, and their facilities being just ok still stand.

I didn't know the Prep school thing either until I was counting the Catholic HS kids and noticed a lot of Choates and Lawrences.

What a joke. Cuse basketball and lacrosse doesn't belong in the ACC? Is Syracuse not on the east coast? I thought for sure they were. Syracuse shouldn't play football? Tell that to GT last week.

I will say that Syracuse absolutely has a recruiting disadvantage ...more than many programs. Situated on the northern most point of the conference with difficult winters. But if anything else was implied about how they don't belong is just tomfoolery

Ohio and PA each have bigger name programs in-state, while everyone recruits NJ. And Syracuse is 4-5 hours from Cleveland, Philly, and Bergen County. None of it is backyard stuff, which is exactly the point. That puts us at a huge disadvantage for elite talent because, unless we're 12-0 every year, there's no 7th grader who is going to develop into a Blue Chipper who has always wanted to go to Cuse.

We haven't had a blue chipper in, what, 15 years? There's a reason for that, and it's not whatever staff we've had since 2005. Your solution appears to be "try harder." That is completely unrealistic.

A definitive hedge. I couldn't remember the star ratings of some of those G-Rob wide receivers (Lobdell, Williams).

All the schools mentioned are in the biz of getting 3 stars that fit and develop as we are. Mixing in a few 4 stars is bonus. Wazzu and ksu are pretty good at it and look at Minnesota and location and recruiting. Even in the north, being in a big, vibrant city helps programs like minny and BC recruit.

As far as our acc recruiting and location, I don't see much too weird when it comes to fitting in geographically. All schools are on the eastern seaboard, same time zone and the longest flight is roughly 2.5 hrs. Now, West Virginia in the big 12 is wacky.

It's harder everywhere else. That's just the way life works.

I agree, regarding disadvantages vs the 4 Carolina schools, GT, and FSU and Miami. That's 7. When it comes to VT and UVA and BC, I SEE the slight advantage they may have. Big city and history and NFL talent for BC and yes, the metro DC area for college fb recruiting is very fertile.

Really they need to improve the depth so that these recruits are all redshirting (unless exceptional) and are not forced to contribute until their R-So. season.
