Based upon recent events/offers that have been happening i decided to draft a Big Board for 2014 to see where Syracuse at with uncommitted prospects. This is all based upon my own knowledge from following recruiting and no insider information with the school/coaches or prospects. This is only uncommitted prospects as i believe there is another thread with committed prospects. I cannot commit to updating this regularly due to time commitments but figure this gives us a picture in time. The bolded ones are the ones i would like Syracuse to get (my personal opinion).

DB - Micquell Cotton; Mike Johnson; Deion Hallmon; Cordell Hudson; Dominick Sanders; Derrick Tindal; Tymashion Clemons; Juwan Dowels (very fluid and if Hallmon is waffling then I like Hudson).

WR - Steve Ishmael; Adly Enoicy (hybrid WR/TE)

LB - Nile Sykes; Jonathon Thomas; Jawhaun Bentley; Justin Hughes; Demetrius Johnson (really like Bentley but with Cabinda still in the fold think we are only looking to take one more, IF we lose Cabinda and replace him with Bentley I would be happy).

DL - Thomas Holley; Chris Slayton; Zeek Rodney; Harold Landry; JUCO (if Holley is out (probable) then Rodney would slip into the bold, think Landry is a reach at this point).

OL - Denzel Ward

RB - Tommy Mister; Corey Holloway; Travis Lock (think if we don't flip Mister we may stand pat at RB)

QB - Alin Edouard (just can't pass on this type of talent even with what AJ has brought to the table)

Parting thought: We need to finish strong and this could be a special class in my opinion.

Edit: If prospect name is underlined then the commit has committed to Syracuse since original post.
Edit: Added Adly Enoicy, Jonathon Thomas and Derrick Tindal to Board.
Edit: Added Denzel Ward - current Purdue commit.

I think theres a good chance we make a late play at either 1 or 2 jucos for the O and D line or some second tier recruits after the season is over and recruiting really ramps up. Holley is the longest of long shots so I wouldnt even list him at this point. I also think we bring in another RB, cant risk our class on just Erv especially if he doesn't qualify, depth would be a disaster next year.

My guess is 9 slots minimum:

1 ATH
1 RB
1 WR
1 OL
1 LB
2 DL
2 DB

There's going to be some attrition so I think we take a full 25.

I would say 1-3 of the current WRs will either take degrees and depart or take a look elsewhere.

Word is the staff has informed some Seniors who took a red shirt so have JR eligibility that this will be their last season on scholarship. Looking like we will be taking a full class

I can only see 4 juniors who fit this; Kinder, AAM, Sam Rodgers and Jon fisher. I'd think they'd invite everyone else back. Only Kinder would be a fith year though.

Hickey and Jerome we'll see.

Nassib, Rene.

Something has been going on with Sloan too. Not related to this, but is a good candidate for attrition

Nassib is a walkon, Rene's a senior and he's definitely not redshirting right now.

Sloan no idea but he's out with a knee injury this year. Redshirt frosh. I'm still bullish on him being a futur contributor.

I definitely see some underclass attrition though

Are you sure Nassib wasn't given a scholarship? I'm pretty sure he was? And isn't Rene in his 4th year, but used a red shirt as a Freshman?

I believe that AAM is a true junior. Never redshirted

Nassib was a walkon. Even if he's on ship now he's done. Rene played as a true frosh. He hasn't played yet this year but it's highly unlikely he's redshirting.

he is i just don't see him back next year, i could be wrong.

if jerome returns then AAM is done here, maybe he'd get cokers FB role in short yardage.

That's a good point connecting Jerome w/ AAM. I think AAM would/should have a role here next year if Jerome leaves. He looked good in his only appearance this year and at the minimum could help as a short yardage back.

Sam Rodgers is a true junior. There's no way in hell they're not bringing back an effective special teams player.

while i agree i also find it absurd they give a ship to a guy who snaps. and you'd think 100% of his snaps would be perfect and that's not the case. snapping has been a bit of an adventure this year.

as for the punter, dixon solidly has the job now. so we have backup punter on scholarship.

Not a whole lot of redshirt juniors.
J. Kinder, J. Smith, R. Welsh, J. West, M. Robinson, S. Hickey.

Wouldn't get rid of your top RB, nor would you get rid of your starting LT. Two DEs at arguably your weakest position depth wise.

That leaves Kinder and West.

Just asking, but any chance that this could be why West has played so poorly this year?

Definitely not. This telling kids they aren't on the team next year might not even be true. He's playing poorly because he's getting matched up with ACC #1 corners, not big east #3 corners. Also, QB play isn't helping him out, but I think its just that his talent level doesn't match up with that of his opposition

There's a decent possibility that Hickey decides to move on to the NFL
...and Jerome might make the same decision if he keeps putting up numbers like he has the last two games.

I love the post and summary. What really pisses me off about Holley up to this moment as our continuos failure at bringing in these top NY kids definitively and consistently. Holley seems to be just the latest apparent failure.Sure he hasn't committed to anyone yet but that it hasn't been to SU. If he comes it would be perhaps the most significant recruit in Shafer's tenure up to this point. Add to that the most critical considering who we lose in the DL to the NFL and graduation.Williams in some minds seems to be a huge (?).Raymon might be a factor but thats another cross your fingers and hope deal.

Cali, he's not coming here and it's by no fault of our staff.
