The corner has turned

I thought we had turned the corner at Clemson last year?

As the arbiter of corner turning, that determination can't just be on faith. There has to be some evidence.

I'll let you know when that happens.
You have earned this right.

Was the corner the NW game in 2012?

From where they picked up the program, absolutely, showed they had built the offense to go with what had already been a very good defense. Ended the year 17th in offense, 47th on defense vs 115th and 102nd the year before he took over.

Babers has had the offense gaining yards already, 23rd last year vs 119th with Shafer. Now he needs the defense to start catching up with the offense. Assuming the offense stays the same and the defense shows substantial improvement, the wins will follow.

Some more points on offense would be helpful too.

The reason I am hopeful is in the trenches . We have the best O and D lines we have had in a while. Combine that with ED at QB and there is reason for optimism. Of course we have all been here before many times and had our bubbles shattered. I'm trying to sip the koolaid instead of guzzleing the whole pitcher.

Points tend to lag yards. Also a function of talent level. Can get yards because of scheme, but talent limits ability to win in the redzone. Last year 64th in redzone attempts, 122nd in RZTD%.

Agreed -- not knocking dino or the offense but pointing out that we need to be able to finish off a few more drives (in addition to improving defensively) before we're turning any corners.

The Orange is juiced.

I think we will be happy with how this season plays out; maybe fondly remembered for years to come.

August is wonderful. Everyone is undefeated. :);):p:rolleyes:

We didn't do anything AT Clemson last year. If we do something at Clemson this year, then we've turned the corner.

Belief in the things unseen.

its coming.

Improved OL / running game is going to help us finish drives in red zone, starting this year.

The difference between yards / points under Babers [IMO] is that we've moved the ball fairly easily between the 20s, only to have drives stall because our offense was one-dimensional.

True about the lines, though the real test might be the quality of the RsF and true frosh who are working into the 2 deep. The corner is turned when recruiting classes are strung together, each one better than the one before.

Ouch.

This feels very zen. After all we have not turned the corner, but rather the corner has turned us.
