The Dome was empty...again. Where are the fans?

Wow barely anyone showed up

I don’t know how this is helpful for fans to post this. Red is getting fired. There’s no reason to highlight poor attendance and make us look worse. Please stop sharing this stuff on social media. It’s a lame duck administration, and everyone knows it. Same attendance issues plagued Louisville during the second year of the Kenny Payne era.

I cannot speak to BBall but I do think that the FB games became less collegiate and more minor league baseball like. And also more corporate. That isn't so much a JW thing as a college sports in the 2020s thing.

People have been complaining about this at football for 30 years. It started with piped in music instead of hearing the band when McNabb was at Syracuse. And the PA taking over commercial breaks. Really hard to pin “minor league feel” at football on Wildhack when it’s been a trend for two generations now.

Complaining about game day environment is really just complaining about not winning but trying to find a new angle. It’s less fun to go when the team isn’t winning? No kidding.

IMO there has been a noticeable difference at games. Nothing was worse W/L wise than the GRob era. If it has gotten worse that that era can't use W/L as an excuse.

But like I said not really so much a JW thing as a industry move. I was at the Notre Dame game and it was crap compared to the last time I was there.

Went to the Duke fb game this year, thought the pregame was the best I've seen it (looked like SEC in training) and they do a decent job with the pre-game stuff...alma mater, etc ...seems to get better every time.

The game stunk, clearly.

What specifically was different you didn’t like. The seating is better now, Micron Lounge area is nice…speakers are a catastrophe that still hasn’t been fixed - but overall I’d say football gameday experience is better now than 7-10 years ago.

It feels like a minor league game now. Again not an SU thing. Schools have trended to it across the nation. No one goes to the games for it, and IMO it makes the games less enjoyable. To the point where I question if it is worth going after 25 years traveling up from the NYC area.

I like the collegiate feel. For me it is part of the allure. Bands and Cheerleaders and Mascots have been minimized everywhere not just SU. Student sections and fans can't even get an organic chant going without interruption. Heck student sections don't even do stuff anymore. But even if they wanted to, they cannot.

And I am not just referring to the corporate feel but the entertainment aspect. The in game entertainment is Mickey Mouse. It is corny and not interactive. It serves no purpose.

Casual fans go to games when it is an event. The in game BS isn't bringing them in, keeping them coming, or preventing them from going again.

I felt there was a big difference for the Pitt Yankee Stadium game. All of that nonsense was absent and I found it more enjoyable.

Also part of the problem is a min longer commercial breaks. Having to wait 2:50 used to be torture. Waiting 3:55 is now not even fair. Schools feel like they need to do something and the consultants come up with what is used at minor league baseball games (you don't see this stuff at pro games).

Then we have the corporate feel of games. This is a national issue IMO. Pro and college. Yankee games are awful. Notre Dame was awful. Notre Dame used to be the epitome of college football. What I went to this year was a travesty. Knute must be rolling in his grave.

I have no interest in going to minor league baseball games. Or Westchester Knicks games. If you take the collegiate experience and feel away, it becomes minor league football. At which point I am gone.

From the first game in the Dome the experience is exceptional. That first game everyone was soaked from the heat with no air conditioning.

I was there... it was my 50 bday... even 'the' another team won over Clemson too... I got another observation though sorta on point but off topic... How many emails have persons gotten from a certain person about buying tickets and attending bball for the end of the year? I responded and asked how to buy season bball tickets and got referred to someone else 2 days later! And I already got the seasons for next year... Where have our SU ticket reps gone.. We use to have dedicated ones, now we got random emailers.

SU’s game atmosphere will always pale in comparison to other schools because our fans don’t participate in the things that make an atmosphere appealing.

We’re the problem, and it’s always been that way.
Students dont support basketball like football.. It too cold... Ironically the cheerleaders are better than football imo.

I agree with the assessment... and.. it brings me back to being a kid growing up and seeing the heros and coolness of being apart of something and I want to be there thing when younger... But now, lately, the lackluster performance is a downward spiral, and there are not those heros anymore, and when that happens it is a bit rough to what to bring your kid or niece, etc...
