The Downside - Colgate

- It was our 51st straight win over Colgate, the second longest streak ever. UCLA beat Cal 52 times in a row from 1961-85: we can tie that next year. Why is that on the downside? What we did tonight, we did against Colgate. We will play nearly thirty better teams this year.

- It was 18-15 in the first 8:47 and 34-30 in the second half. We only really played well in the last 11:!3 of the first half.

- We out-rebounded a much shorter team by only 46-40.

- We were 8 for 19 from the foul line. (They are free throws when you make them and foul shots if you don’t.)

- Tyus Battle who looked like a sure shot in the first exhibition looked more like a guy learning to shoot tonight: 1 for 7, including 0 for 3 from the arc.

- Tyler Lydon has attempted 11 three pointers in the three games so far and hasn’t made one of them.

Great write ups as usual. I love this team, tough to find ANY glaring weaknesses beyond what any team might have this early in the season. One thing i do notice is they have struggled when teams zone them. They did against IUP and they struggled again in second half last night. I imagine teams will try to zone us this year a fair amount? Doesnt mean the strategy will always work but still....

We have the personnel to score against any defense. it will be up to the point guards to get us in the proper sets. We are still a talented group of players more than a team. When we get really organized, then we'll see what this team is really capable of.
