- There were lost of ups and downs during the year but in the end we lost to three teams that would up with worse records, overall and in the conference. 4th and 9 vs. an awful Stanford team, 4 and 1 vs a mediocre Boston College team and 5 interceptions vs. an over-rated Pittsburgh team. This could have been 1987 all over again!
- This was U of Miami but it wasn’t “the U”, as they were in the ESPN documentary. I suspect it’s like last year’s Florida State team – one great year, followed by some serious slippage. Also, wasn’t it Paul Pasqualoni who got criticized for kicking a late field goal, down 7? I think that was against BC. You don’t with a gunfight with a knife.
- We still haven’t played 60 solid minutes in a game. We either fall behind and have to make a comeback or we build up a sizable lead and the game come down to an onside kick.
- We’ve evolved into a really good college football team. But what will we be in the bowl game? Will it be another 0-45 disaster?
- Next year: no McCord, no Marlowe Wax, no a lot of people. And we open vs. Tennessee in Atlanta, at Notre Dame, at Clemson, at Georgia Tech, at U of Miami at SMU. The follow-up to this season could be discouraging, especially since we’ve finally earned respect this year and those teams won’t be looking past us.
